 | Isla de Vieques Trade Winds Guest House Reviews | 1 - 2 of 2 | |
This place has a good location, as it is right on the waterfront/tourist strip. The rooms are very clean, but a little raggedy, but have a cute communal courtyard seating area. The staff is okay, not all that friendly, but helpful. The big problem with this place is the noise from kids dragging the strip on weekend nights in their noisy cars with the bass turned on to the max. This goes on until well after midnight. A car passes this hotel every 30 seconds, since they turn around right there. The people that live there, including the business owners, have the attitude that this is part of Vieques and that Vieques isn't for everyone. A pretty cavalier attitude, considering their livelyhood is at stake. I think the area would do well to make the strip a limited traffic area, opening the road only for pre noon delivery traffic. As this will probably not happen in the near future, I would recommend a stay at one of the guesthouses away from the strip. Jaime's Escondido has excellent reviews and the Casa Alta Vista, with its location by the wonderful bakery and the grocery store is pretty nice at $65/night.

After many trips, wouldn't stay anywhere else! Wonderful people in a very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Harry and Janet, proprietors, are down to earth and genuinely interested in their guests! No false pretenses-just genuine comfortable, welcoming atmosphere...dreaming about next trip...
