More about The BodyHoliday at LeSport
Great holiday at Le Sport
Had a great week at Le Sport.
Staff are very friendly and overall maintained a very good to excellent standard of service. Had a luxury sea view room with king 4 poster bed. Room was of very good standard, bed very comfortable and room bright and kept very clean. No tv in the rooms or tea/coffee making facilities (there is a fridge). We took small portable CD player with us.
The spa is fabulous with inclusive treatments each day. I have never seen such a vast and varied programme of inclusive activities as that provided by Le Sport. The great thing is no one hassles you to get involved, you do as much or as little as you want.
For us the food occasionally let things down a little, not always consistent in it's standard, sometimes very good and sometimes not so good. However you can always try a different place to eat on the resort in the evening if the food is not to your liking as they have 3 restaurants, the Tao, the Clubhouse & the Cariblue. Breakfast 7.30 - 10.30, Lunch 12.30-2.30. They also have the Deli for snacks from 11-4 and afternoon tea from 4-6 at the Clubhouse, so you can usually find something to cater for your taste. You might want to bring some alcohol to put in your fridge, Apart from rum there is none available to purchase at the hotel shop. Although all drinks are inclusive, we sometimes fancied a nightcap in our room or pre dinner on the balcony. No bottled water is available as the water is considered safe in St Lucia, however we purchased water at the hotel shop not wanting to take any chances.
The resort is secluded and you really are given very little reason to leave as pretty much every thing you could want is supplied. The beach is private and there are no hawkers trying to sell you anything. There are 3 pools and the one at the spa is the coolest to sit around as it seems to get more of a breeze around there.
Night time entertainment is provided, mixture of singers, bands, staff shows and disco on every night.
Although we were sometimes a little disappointed with the food the resort excels at the rest of everything that it does and for that reason we would recommend it and maybe try the sister hotel Le Source in Grenada someday.
This resort is really about a total chill out and we found it to be the ultimate in relaxation - no problem from champagne arrival to checkout.
ONE OF THE PREMIER SPA HOTELS
Le Sport is supposedly one of the best spa/hotels in the world-certainly in the carribbean it is number one (equally with its sister resort "le source " in Grenada).
I t certainly is a very luxurious hotel, well laid out in a spacious plantation style that is at empathy with its surroundings. The gardens and grounds are immaculately tended so that the feeling of it being a lush island is magnified- truly beautiful surroundings.
My only gripe is that this is an all-inclusive resort INCLUDING TWO SPA TREATMENTS A DAY, for most people that would be a plus point, for myself i found it irritating to have to keep breaking up my day to go to scheduled appointments, (they give you a schedule on arrival which they have pre-planned for you, they say it is no problem to re-schedule the treatments/times, but in actual fact when you try to do that(as i did) they never have any available slots to change to.)In the end i cancelled all my treatments and found i enjoyed myself much more when i didnt have to keep breaking up my day to go for massages etc.Notwithstanding that little gripe , it is a marvellous hotel and the array of sports and things to do (also included in the all-inclusive cost) is outstanding- from archery to scuba diving its all there (with tuition). LE SPORT"s unique qualities as mentioned above is that there is such a vast array of sports facilities and beauty treatments included in the price-though perhaps it would be better if you could opt for the treatments at a supplement, certainly if you are the slightest bit sporty ypu will have a fantastic holiday here.
A further unique quality is that there is a whole wing of single rooms ( which are still very luxurious) at no single supplement.
Relaxation at its Best
This is a Spa hotel, offering daily beauty therapy's which are included in the price when booking. With healthy food options, drinks served throughout the day on the beach and by the pool, you are bound to come away feeling refreshed and revitalised. Water sports, archery and classes of every type, eg, Thai Chi, Yoga and the like, golf and several pools, there is no time to get bored here. Evening entertainment consists of local musicians, tempting those feet onto the dance floor. No children under 16 during certain times of the year, please check this detail when booking. Wonderful views from the rooms, although the rooms are basic. The people are friendly and fun. There is the option of two pools, one in the Spa area for peaceful lounging. The treatments are second to none. On arrival you pick up your itinery for the week, laying out each days treatments of massage, manicure, pedicure, aromatherapy and many more. Don't be put off men, it's a pleasure for you to enjoy too.
Saint Lucia Best Resort
You cannot get bored at this resort. The drinks, 3 spa treatments daily, snorkeling, sailing, jet skiing, 5 star restaurant, and nightly entertainment are all included. Pricey and worth every cent! Don’t leave the resort! A second away from it is time wasted. Rooms are small, but have ocean views and large bathrooms. Don't pay extra for the "ocean view" room. They all have one!
Spa is private with views of the ocean below.
Didn't like LeSport
My husband and I visited LeSport from 23 July to 29 July 2004 after spending one night at Rendezvous. We moved because we thought LeSport would be better. At LeSport, we had an OceanFront room that had a nice view of the beach and ocean, but was rather barebones. It was'nt designed to enjoy very much except to sleep. There were French Doors that opened onto the balcony but you couln't leave them open for long due to the mosquitos. We like to hear the ocean waves at night while on vacation but had to chose between ocean sounds or mosquito bites. Also be aware that there are bats flying around at night so we could not hang out on the balcony at night as well. The food at LeSport was mediocre at best. There were two days or so of decent meals, the rest was awful. TAO had decent meals but there was an extra charge($$) for the better items on the menu such as salmon and shrimp. The Cariblue also charged extra for certain items on their dinner menu. At the breakfast buffet there were birds eating out of the serving trays. It was disgusting to see birds picking up bacon and potatoes out of the same serving trays as the human guests! The staff seemed to think that this was funny. The spa treatments were excellent but you are at the resort's mercy as to when you can receive them.Everything is tightly scheduled which is not very relaxing. Overall, the beach and water activites at LeSport were excellent but the resort as a whole is over rated,
we have recently returned from a week at Le Sport(23rd August). Having been to a few all inclusive resorts i would rate this very highly. The resort is very picturesque with the rooms set back from the beach area in small blocks. We had a grand Oceannfront room which was really nice overlooking the ocean. This was in the newer block and i had no complaints howevere we used a luxury ocean room as a cortesey room to change before leaving to the airport and this was nowhere near as nice. The beach is lovely and never gets crowdd and there is plenty to do if you want it. The treatments all last 50 mins and were very good.
The food at all the restaurants was excellent especially Tao. Good scubadiving to the reefs close to the shore but tank dives cost extra.
All in all an excellent resort
We just returned from a week at Le Sport. The only nice things about the resort are the things that nature gave it - a lovely setting and beautiful warm water. Otherwise the resort was a major disappointment.
As other reviewers have stated, you really can't open the door to your balcony because of bugs at night. Our room also had two windows which were sealed shut. Apparantly no one at Le Sport has ever heard of screens! So be prepared to sleep with the a/c on (not so good for asthma). Otherwise our room was comfortably furnished.
Overall the servive was terrible on 3 of our mornings there we were awoken before 7 am. Twice by room service coming to the wrong room and once by the front desk calling to confirn our address! Rarely would a staff member say Hello as we passed during the day.
The food was the worst part. We expected to have some healthy options at every meal. Breakfast was okay (if you don't mind an omelet every day), but lunch and dinner were a challenge. One 90 degree day two of your lunch choices were Sheperds Pie or Penne with sauce. Steamed vegetables were Potatoes, Corn and Carrots. Beware Atkins and South Beach Dieters. We made do with salads and something from the grill every meal. For most people there are quite a few choices although I would say that the dishes I tried were of average cafeteria quality.
We tried to set up excursions on a couple of days by speaking to the concirge and never got a response.
We decided to call it quits and leave a day early. When we checked out, no one asked why we were departing a day early . When we settled our bill, I gave them exact change(including eleven cents) only to be told that they didn't accept coins, I would have to round the amount up!
Spa Treatments and Facilities were very disappointing
I chose The Body Holiday because I read the great reviews about the hotel and the spa was voted the best spa in the Carribean. Unfortunately I found the overall experience in the Spa (scheduling, treatments, facilities) infinitely inferior compared to other spas that I have been to. I would rate the spa facilities a 1 star - and this is being generous. There was no AC in any of the treatment rooms, equipment was very basic (not even a sink in the "facial" rooms, no locker rooms except for a "gym" like shower/change/toilet room. Very disorganized and poor scheduling - you don't get advance notification if your therapist does not show up - we were left waiting for 20 minutes for our treatment before a supervisor told us that the therapists could not make it to work due to bad weather the night before - which means that they should have notified us ahead of time and re-scheduled our treatments. All treaments are only 50 minutes and due to the tardiness and laid back attitude of the therapists (which is supported by management most likely), the duration of the treatments end up being 40 minutes only. The facilities were very basic as there were no proper facial equipment, no proper rooms for body scrub and mineral bath. Some of the doors in the treatment rooms don't even close properly so we felt that our privacy was compromised.
Overall I am extremely disappointed with this spa and will never recommend this to anyone. There is not even a proper refreshment area - just a big tank of water with some ice in an ice bucket and some tea which is never refilled.
The spa is overrated and I don't even know how this got voted the best spa in the Carribean!!!!
Great and relaxing getaway
Le Sport was everything my wife and I needed. Relaxation without getting bored. Plenty of activities to keep you busy if you so chose and the spa treatments are a great treat to look forward to each day. The food is good to sometimes better then good although the wine selection is a little weak. The piano bar is a fun place to end your evening with a little singing and the shows before are entertaining. I wanted to do a little fishing so I booked it through the desk there. We ended up going to Castries and along the way picking up 2 other parties (and getting stuck in morning traffic - yes they have traffic jams in St.Lucia!). The fishing was slow that day, the boat was sufficient and the captain friendly but in hindsight I hear that Rodney Bay marina has a pretty good captain and boat and its minutes from the resort. Back to the resort. It is by far the best experience we've had on vacation. Everyone was polite and helpful and the service was great. We stayed 7 days and there were only a few minor "bumps" but nothing that another glass of champagne made you forget! Its healthy without jamming "healthiness" down your throat. If you want to splurge or hang out on the beach all day (and I did both) your not made to feel that your not involved. Upscale but not pretentious. We met some great people and would go back again. Highly recommended for a true holiday.
Wish we were still there!
I almost feel loathed to write a review here as we would like to keep this place to ourselves, but when booking LeSport I found the reviews here very helpful.
We've just returned from a week (19-26th Sept) and found everything to be of a very high quality, there was nothing we could have wished for.
The food was very good at all of the restaurants. I would say the Cariblue was every bit as good as the Tao but the Tao is worth a visit or two. A lot of the menu in the Tao is extra but what was included was very good. The deli is a good lunch option too if you fancy a sandwich or salad.
The entertainment was fantastic, particularly the band. Each evening there were usually two bands/singers, one during the dinner session and then a livelier one in the clubhouse for dancing.
The treatments were lovely particularly at the end of the day, if you are fussy about whether you have male or a female therapist you should request this via the 'Your Room' service on the Bodyholiday website. Up to two weeks before you leave you can also register your treatment preferences - we got exactly what we asked for so I would recommend this.
The classes were very good and the tuition was of a very high standard - Ashtanga yoga was particularly tough! You are under no pressure to join in with anything though if you don't wish to.
We had a luxury ocean view room (337) and had a great view across the bay and with a tree to the side which had numerous visits from hummingbirds. The room was cleaned daily and was absolutely fine.
Negatives others have mentioned are the bugs and the birds. There are a lot of bugs but its to be expected in a tropical country, sandflies and mossies come out around sunset for the evening so remember your repellent. The birds do fly in the restaurant but it's an open restaurant so they're bound to, we found the staff cleaned plates away quickly and buffet dishes were mostly covered up so never found it a problem.
One of the biggest positives were the people, nothing was too much trouble from the guy bringing drinks to the beach every 10 mins to the maintenance man who came out to our room within 5 mins to reset the safe code at 11.30pm. The guests were around 60% english, 30% american and 10% other european, the concept of the holiday has everybody meeting each other so by the end of a week we'd made some good friends.
All in all I would totally recommend this place and can't wait to go back.
reception at le sport
I'd like to go to LeSPORT resort. When booking my plabe ticket, what airport is closest? What the airport code?
Re: which airport?
There is a very small airport in Castries, but it is quite limited to certain airlines departure and arrivals. Hewanorra is the larger airport, however, it is considerably farer from the property you are staying at. Since the road system and transportation systems are quite a long ride (about 1 1/2 hours from there) you may want to hire the St. Lucia Helicopter Service for your transport. go to www.stlluciahelicopter.com it is somewhat pricey ($100 pp) but consider it also in the form of an excursion (as you will likely have an unparelled view from the copter) and the price is a bit easier to justify. They will pick you up at Hewanorra airport and land at the small airport in Castries and then provide a cab to your resort, which would be a much lesser time consuming ride. Hope that helps!
Re: which airport?
I was told that the fare from George Charles airport (SLU) is $20. The further airport (UVF) is about $80. I agree that the helicopter may make sense, but then again, so may finding someone to share the cab with if you'd rather save some money.
We're looking to go there later this year. If you call their 1-800 reservation number, they are very helpful in giving this info to you!
Re: which airport?
SLU is the code for the airport in Castries.
