More about The Landings St. Lucia, A RockResort
Lovely week at the Landings
My husband and I just got back from a terrific vacation at the Landings. At first we were booked into a one bedroom unit. It seemed a bit dark and it looked over the construction. We were lucky enough to upgrade and stay in a sunny two bedroom unit that overlooked the beach. That made a huge difference. It was a joy to relax in such a grand environment .The rooms are spacious..we had two balconies...one overlooked a garden in the back and the second gave us a beautiful view of the beach and Pigeon Island. We could watch the sunset everyday and hear the ocean waves as we slept.
Before going to St Lucia we had read the reviews of the Landings and found them helpful. We want to try and give an overall review which may be of help to others also. We loved being there and the staff was always helpful. Our housekeepers were wonderful. Flavia and Cheryl even went out of their way to put flowers on our bed and spell out happy 30th anniversary to us. We agree with others who say that they try very hard to please the guests. The car company that The Landings employs have excellent drivers. We had Charles most of the time to take us into Rodney Bay and to various restaurants and even shopping in Castries. He is polite, intelligent, professional and very comfortable to be around. He told us many things about the islands and he was always helpful to us....getting us to an ATM and the little grocery. (One thing which you should be aware of before coming is that the Landings still is in the process of building and certain amenities are not yet in place. You do not have a gift/sundries shop. So if you forgot suntan lotion, film or certain necessities you will have to go into the village of Rodney Bay to get them. They do not have an ATM available on the property either and you might need to go into the village to get a little extra cash. The drivers will gladly take you, but it is the cost of a cab ride and tip. We did feel that they might have had a shuttle in place for that kind of trip.)
At this time, there is only one restaurant. It is a bit pricey and the food is not the best,. Several other people told us they felt the same way and some of them actually cooked in their units since the kitchens are fully equipped. We wanted to experience the restaurants on the island, so this wasn't too much of an issue for us. The comments we heard is that they are trying to address the food issues. We did have breakfast included in our package with the Landings and that was fine. Our wait servers were always nice especially Miriam. She was fantastic. She always smiled as she brought our food and told us things to see and do on the island.
There is only one pool right now, but it was fine. It has two hot tubs on each end. It was clean and very nice. The beach is lovely. We were always able to find chairs and you can stroll for a long way down past the Landings on the public beach finding shells and taking in the view of Gros Islet. They also have a great staff if you want to do some water sports. Everyone is helpful and kind. You can take a water taxi over to Pigeon Island. They will gladly drop you off and pick you up. We found this to be most enjoyable. Pigeon Island is a great place to hike and spend a few leisurely hours. They have a great restaurant on the water too.
You should know that these units are all set up for owners having fully equpped kitchens with the latest appliances...as well as a washer and dryer. You will need detergent, paper towels, napkins, dishwasher liquid and a few things of this nature if you are intending to cook and do laundry during your stay. You may want to ask before hand about stocking any of these things.
If you are interested in tours, the concierge can suggest some things which you may enjoy. We think in time, they may want to promote more of the island activities. We had a list of things we wanted to do while visiting St Lucia. The staff helped arrange all our tours for us and we were very pleased with everything we got to do. Try the sunset cruise on the Brig Unicorn, do the zipline and tram in the rainforest and take the catamaran sea/land tour down to Soufriere. Anna, Vanessa and all the great staff will gladly help you with the details.
Our overall experience was excellent. There were a few things which were minor to deal with, but we feel as The Landings comes to completion, it will surpass the other resorts on the island. We would highly recommend it to anyone right now. St Lucia is a beautiful place to go and the people are very kind. We think you will enjoy staying at the Landings.
Wonderful people wonderful place
The friendliest staff I have ever encountered made it real easy to overlook the construction. Beautiful beach great rooms. Everything you would expect from a RockResort. Christian was so helpful and a tremendous asset. Go while you still can.
Great place to stay
We stayed at The Landings for two weeks in May and had a fantastic time. From the moment we were collected by one of the resort cars to the day that we left I have never known such friendly, dedicated staff.
I know that a number of people have commented on how helpful and friendly the staff are but it is still worthy of a mention on this review. Everyone from the people in reception, the cleaners and maintenance staff were all incredibly friendly. The guys who taught me to water ski were very helpful and patient (despite the fact I was hopeless!)
Special mention must go to Miriam, Tamer and Sylvanus who worked in the Yacht Haven the time they spent with our daughter Sophia was above and beyond anything that could be expected.
We stayed in a one bedroom apartment which was way big enough for the three of us, a cot and high chair were provided for our daughter. The fixtures and fittings were all top class and as we had a young child with us the fully fitted kitchen really helped as we could cook in the apartment on a number of nights.
There is stll construction work going on but it is some distance from the completed apartments, the pool, restaurant and beach so it did not really affect our stay. I was told phase 2 will be completed in September/October this year and that will reduce the impact even further.
We hired a car for two days and if you are from the UK driving around is no problem at all as they also drive on the left. You can probably see all that you would want in two days as the Island is quite small.
We also used the complimentary speedboat from the landings which took us into Rodney Bay and to Pidgeon Island which is just up the coast and a great place to spend the day.
We had a wonderful holiday at The landings and we will be going back.
Best in the Caribbean
THE LANDINGS IS THE BEST RESORT IN THE CARIBBEAN!!
My husband and I were the first couple to be married @ The Landings in St. Lucia, and we could not have asked for a better wedding. We stayed @ the TL for 1 week, although looking back I wish we had stayed for 2. Our room was upgraded from 1 bedroom to 2 bedrooms, which was right on the beach. The staff was, courteous, professional and very helpful. The first night we arrived, we came in much later than expected. Luckily for us Tim (concierge) waited until we arrived @ the hotel and were comfortably settled berfore ending his shift. During our stay we enjoyed the gorgeous beach and participated in some of the water activities offered by the hotel ( Kayaking, Banana Boating, Hobbie Cat Sailing). Although the beach was somewhat small, it was comfortable and not overcrowded. The service from the staff was exceptional. All of our needs were met x2. For Our Wedding dinner Chef Roland prepared some delicious off menu items right in our kitchen. The housekeeping staff did a lovely job in decorating our bedroom for the wedding night. As for the construction which was under way, it did not have an impact on our stay, no to mention when we booked @ this Resort we were fully aware that construction would be taking place. Since there was only one restaurant up and running during our stay, my husband was bored with the menu by the third day, we highly recommend doing some grocery shopping and cooking in your kitchen. The other restaurants on that part of the island were so so. We were also very pleased to see that the hotel was not over run by children. My husband and I will definitely be returning to The Landings in the future.
The Most Amazing Place to Stay in St. Lucia
Hi all, the landings is simply the best ever. Everyone was amazing and so nice. We loved the Landings. My wife and I stayed for a week and never had a better vacation. A special shout out to Beverly at the spa. She was great and even provided us with a bad of local wax apples. Much appreciated. The watersports department was very flexible. Michael was fantastic and Milo and Francis were the greatest. Francis, after work hours, took us on a private ride on the water to the Rainforest Hideaway. I'm sure that was a first for The Landings and made us feel like we were rich and famous. It was the most magical evening for us. Thanks again Michael for making this happen and Francis, hope you made it home ok. The view from room 132 is fantasic and watched the sunset every evening at 7pm. The best part about the room is the master bathroom shower, felt like we under a waterfall. Excellent touch to the an already magnificance 2 bedroom villa. We can't say enough about The Landings. Also, Fruit Man stops by the beach at 10:30 and 1:30 everyday. The fresh Mangos are the best!
By the way, do see the island and interact with the local people of the island. Fantastic people.
We recently had a truly five star experience at the landings. The accomodation is design lead and the hotel location is directly on the beach within rodney Bay harbour. The staff were proffesional,
attentive and friendly . There is still phases of building work going on but they managed to make you forget it even though it was evedent. I certainly wouldn,t let the final stages of building put me off. Try it, enjoy it . Cheers Stuart greenwood
Great room, Lots of construstion
My husband and I returned from The Landings July 4. We were upgraded to a two BR upon arrival. The room was beautiful (Room 232) and had a view to die for. We were on the top floor (4th) and overlooked the ocean. We simply could not have had a better view...request this room.
There is a $30 resort fee per day. Currently there is one restaurant and one pool open. 64 units are open now. There is construction everywhere. It is best when going to the gym or spa (located in the lobby building) that you request a golf car ride from the front, otherwise you have to walk through all the construction.
We rented a car so we could travel at leisure. We went to the local grocery store to stock up on food and beer/wine. There is a full kitchen in the room.
One piece of advice: BUG SPRAY. I came home with 30+ mosquito/bug bites. They fogged the resort one day but it didn't help. The 3 other travelers were covered with bites too. Sitting on the patio became less appealing as the week went on. It's not very romantic to sit on the patio with a glass of wine smelling like Off. Regardless.....USE THE BUG SPRAY! I don't think this was the resort's fault because we went to dinner off site and shopping and I still kept getting bites.
We got a great deal on the room and the resort is pretty. Our room was very nice. The staff was pleasant...sometimes a little slow with service. There was very little pool side service.
Very good, need to work out the kinks
There was more construction than I anticipated, and some kinks still need to be worked out, but overall it was a very good experience. They seem to be upgrading guests without a request, and the room we had made up for the small eyesores and problems. If you operate the large sliding doors to the balcony, be careful, they come off at the end of the track easily. We found very small pieces of glass on the floor all over the place; we think due to the new tiles, not sure. Overall, though, we were impressed. There was even our own Miele washer and dryer. The staff was very accommodating; they even said they'd return our rental car for us. It's not the place if you are looking for a very natural experience, but if you like A/C, all new amenities and decor, and a lot of room, even the most discriminating will likely find this place very nice..
Great location - beautiful condo
We recently spent 5 nights in a 3 BR beach front condo. We thoroughly enjoyed the view from our large veranda where we had our breakfast each morning. The furnishings and appliances were all top notch and attention was paid to the details. My only negative comment was that the kitchen could use more cooking utensils (Pots & Pans, toaster, etc.) However, most items were provided when we called for them. The resort has recently added a $30 nightly resort fee. We found this to be worthwhile as it includes shuttle service to Rodney Bay, daily massage, water taxi to Pigeon Island, non-motorized water sports, etc. We were not affected by any of the construction going on within the resort. We were informed of this when we booked. If you are looking for a resort with a lot of night time activity, this would not be the type of resort you are looking for. It is very quite. We found it to be very relaxing, and enjoyed the quite time as we have very hectic lives. We have been coming to St. Lucia for many years and try to stay somewhere different each year. We would definately go back to The Landings.
