Arlene and Michael own the apartments located directly below their own home. They are new one and two bedroom apartments that overlook Belmont/Admiralty Bay. Our apartment had a wonderful little kitchen, spacious bathroom with a stone/tile shower, a platform bed with mosquito netting, and a great balcony with a built in picnin table and hammock. This place is a bargain and Arlene helped us make arrangements for our day trips and gave us good tips. I highly recommend staying here if it is available.

View from our bedroom balcony by desitraveller This is a brand new cottage with two apartments that overlook the sea. Our apartment had two oversized bedrooms, each with spacious ensuite bathrooms and a tile shower, open plan sitting, dining and kitchen area (fridge, stove, microwave, dishes etc provided) and a great balcony with outdoor table and chairs. Though it was just two of us and we didn't need the second bedroom, the rates were for the entire apartment and was still a bargain. The bedrooms all overlook the sea so it was wonderful waking up to that each morning. We both love snorkelling and it was great that we could walk down to Friendship Bay beach each morning. I highly recommend staying here if it is available.

SugarApple Inn Room #2 by MaineIslandgal The Sugarapple Inn is actually 2 buildings with 4 apartments in each. 2 upstairs and 2 downstairs. Each apartment is a bedroom and kitchen/dining area. Each room is brightly painted but tastfully so. Beds are comfortable. Mosquito netting is provided. There is no a/c. Cable television had many channels available. Bathrooms had large showers. Housekeeping was very thourough.
Cilla, the manager was always more than helpful to set up anything you needed. Taxi, day cruise, dinner reservations she never hesitated. The Sugarapple has a view of Friendship Bay. Rooms 1&2 would have the best view since they are the highest up of the 8 rooms. There is a pool and lounging deck on site. There is a path to the beach that takes about 3 minutes. The Sugarapple is centrally located on the island. It is possible to walk to town if you wish. It is probably a half an hour walk. If you go to Bequia you have to stay at Sugarapple Inn. Sugarapple Inn by Chinacat1969 The Sugarapple is located in Friendship and is a neat little hotel. There is a kitchen that needs updated, a large bedroom complete with mosquito netting, and a shower area. There is no balcony, but the shutters open completely so you get a great view. They recently built a patio area and added a small pool. At night, you hear roosters, cows, goats, and dogs. If you are a light sleeper, this is not good. Stock up on provisions if you plan to hang out. There are no grocery stores in the area. You can walk to a small rum shop for beers and canned goods. This is a great location though as you have a 5 minute walk to Friendship beach which is just lovely.
Pretty landscaped area. Nice walk to the beach. Nice, simple accomodations. Nice small pool. Oh - and there are Sugarapple Trees on the property. Ask Sila at the front desk to get you one to try. They are very good. Our apartment here was very clean and had great a/c in the bedroom. There was also a television with cable. We enjoyed staying here, lots of privacy, great location, food down the road. Lower Bay Beach is beautiful and right across the street.
Great price! Great location!

I counted 50 steps you must climb to reach this villa. The grounds consist of 3 villas or "rooms" with baths. The main building has the kitchen, living room with a great supply of cd's a cd player and library. It's decorated in an island Victorian style. I really liked it. The dining table is outside on the deck and has a great view of Friendship Bay. There is also a pool. There is also a cook available to come in whenever your heart desires and of course maid service. I would recommend the Stardust Villa if you like privacy and don't mind being a little out of the way. We were given accomodations here because Friendship Bay Resort was closed at the time. The website shows the villa rental as a large villa at weekly prices. You will need to check with Friendship Bay Resort for individual rentals.

Julies Guest House is actually two guesthouses, one behind the other, just across from the main pier (ferry landing) in Port Elizabeth. It is simple accomodation, particularly suited to the budget traveller, but is clean and its central location makes it a great jumping off point for travel to other parts of the island. Across the street you can catch a cab or better yet a dollar taxi (50 cents compared to a cab at $10.00) to get you to the best swimming beach at Lower Bay. The guest houses are run by a very hospitable local family, the MacIntoshes. A double with no meals is 39.00 US, with breakfast is 54.00 US, and with breakfast and dinner is 78.00. We did breakfast and dinner and didn't regret it as the meals were delicious Caribbean fare. The main dish was different each night, and we were served some wonderful seafood including fresh (of course) barracuda and kingfish.
The first night we stayed in the front guesthouse. Although it was more modern and roomy, it was also noisier than the more modest 2nd guest house behind. We moved there for the rest of our week in Bequia. The view from the balcony onto the front street was always entertaining, however. Downstairs is an Internet place if you want to keep in touch.

Village Apartments is a nice economical place to stay on Bequia. Nothing fancy but great character. We have stayed in Apartment #5. This apt has a living/dining room area, full kitchen, porch, 1 bedroom and bathroom. There are two small closets. It has a nice view of Admiralty Bay. The owners, the Whitney's, are great hosts. There is air conditioning, but it is metered (meaning pay extra). The ceiling fan and floor fan in the apt provide adequate cooling. Water. There is no public supply of water in Bequia. Water is collected from the rain. So, use it sparingly. "If it's yellow, let it mellow. If it's brown, flush it down."
Village Apartments is located on a side of a hill about 100 feet up from the waterfront walkway in Belmont. It's a very good location as is within walking distance to Princess Margaret Beach and the restaurants/bars/stores in Port Elizabeth.
