Not a Bad Place, but...-Canoaun
One of the first impressions we had was regarding security. We were asked to sign a "supplemental form", which basically said there was security on the beach until 6pm and that they were not liable for anything that happened after that. We thought that a little strange. I noticed there were security cameras scattered about.
After filling out all paperwork and obtaining the keys to our room, we were informed the clerk would be right with us to "walk" us to the room, but we were hot and didn't feel like waiting around so we headed towards the room. As we took a few steps across the driveway (consisting of small 2" concrete hollow squares with sand inside) we were called back by the staff who politely requested we use the pathways instead, okay........
Our suite was quite nice. It was all dark wood with shutters on the doors and windows. The a/c was in the separate sitting area of the suite and not the bedroom and with the shutters it was difficult to really cool it down in there. It was a little dark inside but you could always open the doors to let the sunshine in (not to mention the mosquitos). The room was very comfortable although the shower was a little small, I thought. If you are looking for someplace to just hang out at a great beach, this would be a good spot. The staff was a little noisy in the morning at 8am while they were raking up the leaves on the beach outside our window and there were also some noisy people on the boats anchored just offshore.
There is no room service here, they won't even bring you ice. Also, no ironing boards or irons. If you need an electrical transformer, go to the desk yourself and pick it up.
Had a few problems with chartering a boat here, read about it in my Canouan log. The manager informed me they had had problems with the "Tropical Storm" charter before but I guess they continue to use it.
The food is quite good though, cheers to the chef!
