Speaking only about the room itself, this was really bad. I don't have high expectations for a room, and I'm pleased to say the a/c worked just fine, but our room had foul smelling water with plumbing askew, the door scraped along the floor. Maid service was spotty and when we checked in they hadn't removed the previous guest's towels. The room's safe didn't work making us carry our passportsna d cash everywhere we went. The furniture generally seemed decrepit, and of course, we were over the bar, which gave us live though muffled music well into the night.
Whatever you consider here, don't accept room 208. Leave a Comment Theme: HotelPrice: US$80-120 » Currency ConverterComparison: less expensive than averageAddress: Harbour Drive, PO Box SS-6249, NASSAU 00000Directions: On the beach, ten minutes walk to the Atlantis

 | | | | Paradise Island Harbour Resort All Inclusive: Holiday Inn Sunspree -- The food and drink Compare Rates NEW! | Tip Rating: Satisfaction: | | | | |
The food here is pretty good. They do a lot of nice things and I would say it is one or even two cuts above Denny's. They serve reasonably fresh tasting seafood, and have plenty of everything in their three restaurants. There is something to eat all day, and in the evening they often BBQ. The food is good, but it never really loses the mass-produced feel. What drove us nuts was the bracelet, used to identify guests, and which you can't remove. If you snip it off so as not to be instantly recognizable as a tourist... DING!! That will be $75 please!
The HIS serves what to me is mid-level alcohol. You can choose from Kalik, Lucaya, or Miller Light beers. They serve local rum, and imported Chilean wine of decent quality. You won't find top shelf brands and a few of the spirits I sampled were kind of rough, but overall, its standard, off the shelf alcohol. I don't know about soft drinks. | | | | Paradise Island Harbour Resort All Inclusive: Holiday Inn Sunspree -- The facilities Compare Rates NEW! | Tip Rating: Satisfaction: | | | | |
Generally speaking, I found the facilities here to be pretty good. They have a nice hot tub, a spacious pool, nice exercise rooms, and a pleasant lobby. They were a good deal for the money and they provided towels at the front desk for when you went out. Its $25 if you lose one. They provide all the services of a normal hotel, including booking agents for sightseeing or tours.
The one thing here that I liked a lot, was the fact that they didn't seem to regulate the staff's manners towards the guests. They had to provide service really, but their attitudes ran the gamut from the friendliest hug-givers, to semi-sullen. Take you rown opinion on this, but I prefer that to the canned sunny smiles and fake good cheer of a lot of places. | | | | British Colonial Hilton: Sweeping Beachfront Hotel | Tip Rating: | | | | |
We did not stay at the British Colonial Hilton because each of the 4 times we have visited Nassau it has been by cruiseship. But even as viewed from the deck of a cruiseship the hotel exudes an historical, old world charm. The hotel was last renovated in 1999 and is considered a world class hotel. Built on the site of the Old Fort Nassau, the British Colonial Hilton is a waterfront beauty. The British Colonial Hilton with its distinquishing golden yellow paint and terra cotta roof is one of the first sights to come into view as you sail into Nassau Harbor and sits on 8 acres of prime waterfront land. The British Colonial has 291 rooms, a pool, business and meeting facilities, fitness facilities, the Azure Spa, a gift shop and several restaurants and bars including a poolside bar. Live entertainment will fill your nights in the Lounge. Or perhaps you may attend a ball in the Governor's Ballroom on some special occasion. Rooms have comfortable furnishings, high speed internet access and and a marble bathroom. NOTE: This hotel may not be suitable for some families, because room occupancy is almost totally for two persons only. Suites, however, can accommodate 2 adults and 1 child. Suites are luxuriously furnished and prices for them include continental breakfast and refreshments but have a luxurious price tag too!
This hotel can boast of many charms but the white sand beach and view has to be its most spectacular feature!! The current building replaces the former elegant Hotel Colonial which was built in 1900. Be sure to look for the statue of Woodes Rogers, the first Royal Governor of the Bahamas who is famous for ridding the Bahamas of its pirate inhabitants and hanging several at one time just about where the hotel sits today! | | | | The Atlantis Resort: Like Stepping into Another World | Tip Rating: | | | | |
One of the most well-known hotels in the world, the Atlantis Hotel on Paradise Island is in itself a destination. Once you have seen its architectural profile, its characteristic pink and tourquoise towers and the Rialto-like bridge connnecting them, you will never forget it!! Though having never slept here, I have visited the Atlantis several times. I would say the rooms here are not the main reason people come--its the whole package. The inside of the hotel is grand and luxurious. There is a casino (of course), a very upscale duty-free shopping arcade, many restaurants and bars, the extremely famous several million-gallon aquarium which has a large viewing area inside the hotel--it is the world's large man-made marine habitat!! And then there are the fabulous features outside the hotel!!! A large amount of space is devoted to an "archeological dig" and lagoons, and the famous Inca-looking water slide which shoots you through a tube and through the aquarium!! Thank heaven you can purchase a guided tour of much of the hotel and its grounds because there is so much to see. Non-staying guests are barred from entering many areas of the hotel and grounds otherwise the place would be inundated with sightseers. Check the info. office in the middle of the casino for tour times, and to purchase tickets. The hotel plans scores of daily activities for its guests and there is a daily program which outlines events, places & times because it is extensive.
Once again here is a hotel that has an ultra prime location, beautiful buildings & grounds and lagoons and pools galore. But that waterslide has to be one of the most fabulous in the world. I'm not sure I would have the courage, even though you are in a clear tube; to see sharks swimming around it would be just a little too thrilling for me! The nearby marina is a fabulous place to see the yachts of the rich and famous! | | | | Compass Point: Compass Point Compare Rates NEW! | Tip Rating: Satisfaction: | | | | |
If you are looking for a secluded romatic beach haven I can not recommend The Compass Point highly enough. There are several self contained beach huts with hot and cold running water, pleasantly but simply furnished. Fall asleep to the sound of surf and the rustle of palm trees in your ears. Average Price: Summer Rate: $195 - $250 There are 13 huts and cottages on stilts and 5 cabana studios, all painted in vibrant Bahamian Junkanoo colors. The huts and cottages are not air-conditioned but are designed with louvered windows to be cooled by tropical breezes. All have private decks facing the ocean. All of the buildings are decorated with whimsical Junkanoo motifs such as owls, roosters, sunbursts and fish. In contrast to the brightly colored exteriors, the handcrafted interiors of each unit accent natural woods with batik fabrics.
Absoloutly stunning, informal and intimate boutique style resort hotel. Fully functional private beach huts. Compass Point is located on 2 oceanfront acres 4 miles west of Cable Beach. The resort is convenient to the excitement of downtown Nassau and Paradise Island, both known for casinos, nightclubs and duty-free shopping. Compass Point's creative desinger Barbara Hulanicki mirrored the Bahamas annual Junkanoo parade using bright and cheerful colors on the buildings exteriors. | | | | Sandals Royal Bahamian Resort & Spa All-Inclusive: True paradise | Tip Rating: Satisfaction: | | | | |
This magnificent all inclusive resort sets on Cable Beach, and is the only Four Diamond hotel in the Bahamas. It offers 7 pools, including 2 colonnaded pools with swim-up bars, 8 world-class gourmet restaurants, continental breakfast room service, every land and water sport from a penthouse fitness center to scuba diving. From lavish suites to hospitality beyond compare, this resort is the ultimate romantic place to spend your honeymoon!
We had a large room with a great view of the beautiful garden. You could also say that we had our private pool, since most of the other guests used the mainpool, we had the (smaller) pool and the jacuzzi often to ourselves, which was of course fantastic. Naturally the staff of the hotel was very helpfull and very friendly. The resort also offers a Spa collection to indulge yourself in a full menu of restorative treatments and salon services, cleansing body wraps, Swedish massage, sense stimulating aromatherapy and organic skin care products. These are just a few options that await you when you take the time to replenish at Sandals. Also the food in the restaurants was excellent. The salmon bagles are so fine, you just wanne eat your fingers with them. Once a week there is a BBQ on the beach with excellent steaks, fish and salades. You also must try the a-la-carte restaurant which is amazing good! What definitely makes this resort so special, is that It also offers an offshore island named Sandals Cay, making Sandals Royal Bahamian two exotic islands for the price of one. Sandals Cay features a pool, a whirlpool, a swim-up pool bar, a traditional Caribbean restaurant and a white-sand beach. We truly had an amazing time at Sandals. With al its pampering, you'll have no idea what will hit you. Before I forget, Sandals Royal Bahamian is a couples only resort. Read: no children!
