This hotel is not located on the beach, but is within walking distance (as most things are on paradise island). Nonetheless, the facilities were all very maintained and clean. They have a pool area with lounge chairs for sunbathing, and the grounds were well kept and manicured. The staff was very accomodating and pleasant. Overall, if you don't mind a bit of a walk to the beach, the Comfort Suites is a great place to stay on a budget.
Everything at the hotel was great. Everything was really clean. There is no problem with the water, so you can drink it. The food is really good too. People are really nice and help you it the luggage or anything else. This is a quiet and small hotel, so it is great it you don't want to be disturb.
We stayed at the Comfort Suites versus Atlantis and paid $1,000 less for our vacation. The Atlantis owns the property of Comfort Suites and allows its guests to use all of Atlantis for FREE. Our pool bar was great (less expensive for all types of drinks)and so were the bartenders. Every morning we got a continental breakfast for free (included cereal, bagels, breads, juices, coffee, danishes, fruits).
It was nice to leave the pool area of Atlantis, go back to our pool bar and relax with a beer. We also stopped down there before heading out at night and a few times stayed there until it closed. The Atlantis bartenders are there for $$$ once you get your drink you're forgotten about.
The grounds aren't anything special but we knew we would be going over to Atlantis every day and making sure we saw and used all available accommmodations.
Unique Quality: Pool bar/swim-up bar was fun. The three bartenders were personable, liked to talk, and made strong drinks.

we stayed at comfort suites paradise island 11-21 to 11-29. prior to going, we read all the reviews and talked to people who have been there. 2 things you have to understand...the food and drinks are expensive and there is a lot of walking no matter where you stay. the comfort suites is about has close to all atlantis has to offer as the beach towers. so if either one of these bother you, you may want to consider another destination. comfort suites had excellent free breakfast. that will say you some money. rooms are cheaper than atlantis. the rooms in the newer section of the hotel are suites....2 beds and a nice sofa. ask for the newer section. we had room 586. great view. you get to use all of atlantis's beaches, pools, movie theater, restaurants, shops, etc.....just get a wristband in the morning and your free to do whatever. do the dolphin encounters...if you can afford the swim, that is the best. parasailing was great, jet sking in the ocean was fun....but both run you $50 a person. a couple of other things.....be nice to the islanders and they will be nice to you. we thought everyone was very friendly....no complaints. if on a budjet...plan this well in advance and put money away. you cant go down there worrying about money. it will ruin the stay. take snacks...we took down little bags of chips, peanuts, candy, fruit roll ups...whatever...just to take care of the snack attack. there is a mini mart down the street....a loaf of bread was 3.00, peanut butter was 6.00 and a liter of pop was 2.75. we made sandwiches 2 days and took to the beach for lunch. i would highly recommend comfort suites. for us, all went very well. if you have any questions...feel free to call john 515-223-7776
I have stayed at the Comfort Suites many times. I just love staying there. It is perfect in every way. Beautiful bright rooms, new carpeting, lovely grounds with pretty flowers and tropical trees along the pathways. Great pool with swim-up bar. Nice little breakfast FREE in morning - outdoor shaded dining area. Minibars in room . . . help yourself to soda pop, candy bars, chips, even little bottles of liquor. On the honor system - Just mark down on a pad of paper what you took and they replace it the next day. Then later, it is simply added on to your total room charge. The walk to Atlantis is easy and close. Bring comfortable walking shoes because Atlantis is so huge! The Comfort Suites check in was fast and efficient. The ladies who work the front desk are very sweet. I liked the way they lit the hallways with pretty lights which were in the shape of a shell. The rooms have a small sofa and coffee table sitting area and a little round table with two chairs. The furniture was all the blonde wood which is what I like because it reminds me of Florida and the tropics. If you want to try and get a better deal, ask for the Corporate Rate or book through ... and bring up the rate under all the different options. Choice Hotels usually lists Triple A rate, Senior Citizen rate, Business rate, Government/Military rate (I have used this one at many Choice Hotels simply because I work at a community college and it's considered a county/government job). I think you will be happy with the Comfort Suites. ENJOY!!
Excellent value. The facilities are very comfortable and kept well. We had a room near the pool and pool bar, with easy access to the street for trips to Atlantis. The free access to the Atlantis property is worth the price of the room! It's main entrance is across the street from the hotel. Loved the place, loved the Bahamas.
Myself and my husband stayed there for our honeymoon. We found the rooms only average. They say there's a fridge - but be warned - not much fits in and there were only 2 of us!! Sheets & towels etc., looked like they had been boiled a thousand times over and reception staff were really ignorant - no help at all.
Apart from that, the location and access to Atlantis was excellent - although we did have problems putting items on our room - you hold a different card to people at Atlantis and sometimes they weren't taken (so much for having use of all the facilities!!)
What made our holiday were the staff at the pool bar - Mike works at night and he is absolutely hilarious - really cool Bahamian - really nice, genuine guy - thanks for everything Mike!!!!
We stayed at the Comfort Suites on Paridise Island and the room was wondeful. There were two queen sized beds as well as a small living area with a hid-a-bed. The price is about half what you would pay at Atlantis and the rooms are better. You are given a card which gives you full use of all the attractions at Atlantis. There are not tricks here everything at Atlantis is included. You can even sign your Atlantis restuarant and bar bills to your Comfort Suite room tab. If you are traveling with kids they will love Atlantis and the pool at the Comfort Suites is very nice too. I have read a few other negative reviews on this hotel and I cannot understand why others did not find this hotel great. The Bahamas are quite expensive so don't try to go on too tight of a budget otherwise you will be disappointed. Atlas Grill at Atlantis offers very good food at the best prices and the meals are very large. I shared mine with my wife and still left feeling full enough to get me through until the free continental breakfast the next morning at the Comfort Suites.
We travel extensively and have high expectations because of our experience and I can say that staying at the Comfort Suites was worthwhile. I read lots of the reviews and will consolidate the high points that were valuable during our stay 10/31/03 to 11/04/03. Packed some snacks and drinks and used all of them. Check-in at the hotel was quick. Gal behind the counter was friendly and gracious. The continental breakfast was fine. Typical cereal and doughnuts, but included watermelon (good) and very moist, tasty muffins. Well worth saving the money for breakfast (I figure the three of us would have spent about $30 on even a simple breakfast somewhere else). Lunch at Atlantis was about what you would pay at an amusement park; about $10-$12/person. Ate at the Cave In and Pisces. No one mentions how beautiful Atlantis is! Absolutely top-notch grounds. The fish and landscaping were amazing. We had no trouble finding lounge chairs at all. Ate dinner at the Poop Deck (walked there - about 15 minute walk) and Anthony's Grill right by the hotel. Poop Deck is reasonsable, comparatively and very good (try the fish cakes). Anthony's was about the same price (about $20/person), but the service was slow. Yes, the food is expensive, but everything we ate was quite good. Murray's Deli was good, too. Just keep in mind that food costs and there's nothing you can do, but budget accordingly. Really liked the layout of the room at the Comfort Suites because the bath/vanity area afforded privacy for changing. Staff at hotel very friendly. Our section of rooms (to the right of the lobby) were clean and smelled fine, but the wing to the left smelled like vinegar. The bad smell was coming from the vents - glad we weren't staying on that side. All in all, a great vacation. Do the snorkel tour with Stuart Coves (3 stops - snorkel with sharks!).
Anyone have any suggestions for transporting a big group (12) FAMILY AND 4 FRIENDS FROM PI airport to Comfort suites/Atlantis and visa versa that is not to expensive? and any suggestions on reasonable but good places to eat!
Thanks Jenny
