  • Relaxing beach - Trinidad and Tobago
    Relaxing beach
    by kyoub
This is where we stayed on our first trip to Tobago and it remains a favorite.
It is on a private cove north of Speyside.
You can walk on the beach, go for a walk in the rainforest behind to look for birds, go snorkeling or diving, or go over to Little Tobago.
A very relaxing place to stay.

There are great views out across the sea.
A good restaurant, a dive shop, and pretty grounds.
The cocrico's come every morning to entertain you.
    Owners are very personable.

Valsayn Villa is an enchanting paradise with uncommon luxury and hospitality. Ideally located 15 minutes from the airport. Car rentals and taxi services are available. Valpark and Grand Bazaar Shopping Plazas are within walking distance. Air-conditioned rooms with cable TV, private bath and showers with hot and cold water. You can enjoy the natural surroundings of tropical flowers and exotic birds as you relax poolside or at the jacuzzi.

There is a very nice pool and lovely flowers around the house.
The owner took us on some great tours while we were there.

  • Pool at Cocrico Inn - Trinidad and Tobago
    Pool at Cocrico Inn
    by kyoub
The modest Cocrico Inn is in Plymouth has clean air con rooms with showers. Ours had a balcony from where we watched the locals go about their everyday life.

It has a small pool. The dining room is simple, no fancy tables here, but they serve some of the best food on the island.
A short walk will take you by large tropiocal plants and to a small beach.

You feel like you are living in a garden at this hotel. You wind down a small pathe to the small bungalows that are set in among the tropical plants.
We had a full size bed and a twin size bed, a nice bathroom with hot and cold water.

    There was a nice pool.
No view because it in inland from the beach.

The location at Stonehaven beach was magnificent; you could listen to the sound of the waves at night. The only minus about the location is that it is kind of isolated and you need a car if you don’t want to rely on taxis. On the other hand, the small village of Black Rock is just around the corner with some small shops to buy the basic things. There was quite a lot of noise from the bar and the restaurant in the evenings and that might bother someone. But the noise always ended before midnight so it won’t keep you up all night. The staff at the hotel was nice, especially at the bar and at the office.

The rooms were big and airy and were kept very clean. The interior was made of teak wood, which was beautiful, but other wise the décor was quite plain. The rooms had cable-TV, but no phones. The biggest minus was that they don’t have fridge in the room. The air-conditioning was really good and very quiet and if I understood correctly, they had just renewed them. There was also a ceiling fan. We had a veranda and a separate balcony. They were both with chairs and tables and both overlooking the beach and the restaurant, which was nice, because you got beautiful views of the sunset. Beach towels were also provided.

Rates include cooked breakfast (not buffet), which isn’t that big but adequate and got you started for the day. They have fruit, toast, eggs and bacon or fish. I don’t usually eat toast with jam, but I really liked the pineapple jam they had.

All in all, we had a pleasant stay there and would recommend The Seahorse Inn to others, who appreciate the intimacy of a small hotel and don’t miss the hustle and bustle or the services of a big resort hotel. However I wouldn’t recommend the Seahorse Inn to people, who are physically challenged, because there are a lot of steps and all of the rooms are on the second floor.

Placed in Diego Martin, in a tropical sourrouding area, this beautiful place is peaceful, cheap and the owner (and his family) are very lovely people!

Very close to Bus station, in a big tropical garden, no road traffic (like in POS), and very very clean place!

  • Enchanted Waters - Trinidad and Tobago
    Enchanted Waters
    by Blondiina
The second week of our holiday we stayed at the Enchanted Waters hotel. It is a nice 10-room hotel on Shirvan road. They have a lovely small garden, which is even lovelier in the evening, when the beautiful lighting and the waterfall are on. There is also a swimming pool on site, not that big, but adequate. We strongly recommend renting a car, while staying here. It is kind of isolated. Shirvan road runs right next to the hotel so there is some noise. It is not the quietest of locations, but it’s not that bad either. There are animals on the premises too. Two dogs and two cats, but they are all kind and won’t bother you. The staff are very nice and the owner family too.

We stayed in an executive suite, which was big and nicely decorated. They also brought beautiful flowers to our room, when we arrived. Our room was on the third floor and we had a big balcony with an open-air kitchenette. Breakfast wasn’t included in the room rate, but Gourmet Foods supermarket isn’t far and we bought our own breakfast supplies. The kitchenette was in good condition as were all the kettles and other dishes. They also have a ceiling fan on the balcony, which made it more pleasant to sit there. After getting used to the brand new air-con in the Seahorse Inn, the air-con here seemed a bit noisy. However the ceiling fan in our room was so efficient that we didn’t need to use the air-conditioning at night. The executive suite comes with a small Jacuzzi, but we didn’t use it.

Our return flight was only in the evening so we asked to keep our room till we’d have to leave to the airport. They needed our room, so they gave us one on the ground level. It was a standard suite. It was smaller in size than the executive suite and it didn’t have a Jacuzzi, but otherwise it was quite the same. It even had a better shower than the executive suite. If we’d known before, what the rooms are really like, we’d stayed in a standard room. I think it was better value for money. Not that the price difference is that big, but still.
