Toucan Inn: Best value for money

by Woosey

The Toucan Inn is situated just 5-10 minutes from the airport in Crown Point.
As there are not many flights from and to Tobago, it is not a problem to be so close to the airport.
The complex exsists out of 20 cabana's, overlooking either the pool or te garden.
The room had a vey good bed, a big closet and was very clean.
Next to the pool was the famous "Bonkers". Bonkers is one of Tobago's best restaurants, serving local food, or at least with a local twist. (Try the Lamb stew)
To the best beach in Crown Point, Pigeon Point, it was about a 10-15 minute walk.

-Very intimate, due to small scale
-Bonkers, a very good restaurant
-Very nice an polite employee's

Tropikist Hotel: Convenient to beach and airport in Tobago

by pachen431

A swim up bar, breakfast buffet, decent food, clean basic room. Two pools, one more traditional and one that loops around with a swim up bar. Pleasant service. Our flight left later in the evening so they kept our bags for us while we took advantage of the few extra hours at the beach and then let us use a room to shower and change for our flight back to Trinidad. Near the airport but now walking distance unless you like a long walk. Not far from Store Bay (beach). Near other restaurants if you feel inclined to eat off premises.

While not luxurious by Amreican standards, the hotel is clean. The pool with a swim up bar has little benches built in so you can relax and enjoy your cocktail. This pool is shaped like a lagoon with an island in the middle to encourage just leaisurely floating and conversation. The second pool is the more traditional rectangular shape.

Sundeck Apartments: The perfect location

by kranstonakov

Set on the top of a small hill at the southern point of Casatra in the North of Tobago sundeck apartments offers you unrivalled seaviews. The apartment are spacious, they have a huge deck that could accommodate 20 people quite comfortably!! To you right you can stare out to the Caribbean Sea, and straight ahead is a huge gorge covered in tropical rainforest. Relax with a beer and watch the multi coloured parrots fly betweem the hill tops and listen to the ocean, theres even a pool table, hammocks and a barbeque area!!

complete tranquility on the hill overlooking castara bay, the most beautiful in the whole of Tobago.

Toucan Inn: Staying in Tobago

by morgana17

I enjoyed staying at the Toucan Inn immensely. It is 5-10 minutes from the airport in the South of the island. There are 2 types of rooms: some of them are around the swimming pools; others around the little tropical garden. I was close to the gardens. The room was similar to a bungalow, spartan but with all I needed (spacious bathroom, storage, air conditioning.) and quiet.
The Restaurant is called Bonkers and it's expensive, but really nice. You must try their chicken wrapped in bacon! They also make cocktails.
The swimming pool is very small, but who cares... the sea is what counts!
There are loads of humming birds that come to lick the marmelade in the morning, on the restaurant's rail. They're gorgeous!
Breakfast is just fantastic. I recommend to try the special of the day every day! Sometimes it is bake&fish (deep fried fish with cake-bread and tamarind chutney); others is Creole sausage (excellent!)
I also recommend to have a look at the accommodation close to Store Bay beach. I was told is cheap and it's right on the beach!
We booked everything through an agency called "tropical places", which we were really happy with.

Humming birds coming to greet you at breakfast! Incredible food in the morning (tropical fruit+special of the day or fry or Continental+juice+toast+marmelate+hot beverage!
Lovely people in reception.
The Macaw (Bonkers) and the Toucan (Toco)
Loads of cool lizards walking about

Le Grand Courlan Spa Resort: Pampered but not Fussed

by Simonfitzuk

The best thing about this hotel was the inclusive spa treatments each day. Being a spa virgin I thought all of the treatments received were very good.

Otherwise I'm afraid there is not much else to sing the praises of the hotel. It just seemed like another tourist hotel with very little that was outstanding. The food was OK but ran on a buffet basis most of the time - there was a "bookable" cosy set of tables down below which offered a menu but even this was repeated after a while.

The beach was OK in places - further away from the hotel though.

Overall I would not pay too much for this hotel - we had a rate of £50 pppn from a travel industry perk.

Upside-down Hilton: Great hotel, but....

by lizzytex

I thought this was a great hotel. Our balcony overlooked the mountains and a valley, and it was the perfect place to sit and have a drink at night before going out. As I mentioned previously, I did have money stolen from my suitcase, so I would highly recommend using the room safe. They have a nice pool as well, just remember the sunscreen! I'm from Houston so I'm used to the heat, but here I was totally burnt in about 90 minutes!

Great view and pool area. Sit back, take a swim and have a delicious Pina Colada with fresh pineapple!

Cannon

by mauro_pd

THis the defending cannon on one of the main shores around Blue Haven ... "out of order" of course :-)
