Courtyard by Marriott: Good business hotel in the city
The Courtyard in Port of Spain in similar to most other Courtyard properties. The beds are good, there is a small exercise room, a pool and lounge/restaurant. Nothing exciting but very comfortable and the hotel has good internet access.
The two things that make this hotel stand apart are (1) the amazing staff and (2) the location.
I don't know how the Courthyard Port of Spain trains it staff but there are a lot of high-end hotels that should look to them as an example. Everyone from the front desk staff to waiters at the restaurant are absolutely focused on meeting your every need. In a country that traditionally takes life at an 'island pace', the service at the Courtyard really stands out.
The location of the Courtyard is very convenient if you, like me, dislike being stuck at the hotel for meals. While I've never personally had any problems in Port of Spain, it is still considered a high-crime location and it is not recommended to cruise around solo. The Marriott is directly in front of a spectacular steak house called Prime that is a wonderful spot for a business dinner. Adjacent to the hotel is the MovieTowne complex hosting a cinema (as the name implies) as well as a number of restaurants and bars.

Kapok Hotel
Just on the north-west flank of the QPS this hotel stands at the gateway to POS leafy upscale areas of ST Clair and Ellerslie Park. The food here is good ' polynesian themed TIKI VILLAGE restaurant and the bar Bois Cano are popular. Locals in T&T love to eat out and price is no obstruction.
Unique Quality: the food

Crowne Plaza
the other 'big' hotel in POS located on the harborfront. The views of downtown again are great. The rotating La Ronde restaurant at the top of the hotel is really cool.
Unique Quality: rotating restaurant & views

Trinidad Hilton
Located on the northern side of the grand QPS & on the foothills of the Northern Range this is one of Tinidad's few luxury hotels. Unlike other Carribbean islands there are no brand-name hotels near any of the BEACHES!! In fact all the bg names are in unlikely city-centre locations as the clientele toTrinidad is usually big-business oriented
Great setting with fantastic views over the city and Gulf of Paria; QPS and foothills
The restaurants are pricey but the sunday brunch bar-b-que @ poolside is a family tradition.
If you are around on Sundays you may cath glimpse of a grand Trini style reception being held at one of the 'Ballrooms'
Unique Quality: the views/location. Great 'all-inclusive' -fully paid bar and food parties- poolside galas during carnival and the OLD YEAR (new years eve)

Trinidad Hilton: Upside down Hilton is very good
My stay at this hotel was very fine... too bad it was only 5 days.
The hotel was nice the views of Queens Park and Savannah were great.
My favorite food at my favorite restaurant in the hotel was the evening buffet, with a variety of continental and local food and European desserts.
It lacked the facility to make espresso for after dinner coffee. Their espresso cart closed in the afternoon.
Unique Quality: Design of the hotel. The location of the hotel.
The room was average for a Hilton.

Pax Guest House: Good and reasonable
If you are looking for a reasonable place to stay, check PAX guest house on Mount St. Benedict in Tunapuna. It is located on the hill in the Monastry. From there on a fine day you can be able to see the flat plains of Caroni.
The guest house usually organise day trips for guest to places of interests like the Bird Santaury in Caroni and other nature reserves. You may also want to take a casual walk around the hill side around the guest house.
Unique Quality: A quite and relaxing place to be.

A nice hostel with nice english-speaking staff. It is close to park Guell too. However, better check the location information clearly before go there. Since it is not close to the city centre.
