St Thomas Worst Resort
The Anchorage Beach Resort over near Red Hook is by far the worst resort on St Thomas. The taxi drivers don't even know where it is, or if they do, they dont want to take you there.
Our stay in Mar. 2008 lastest about 1hr. Then we left.
After the taxi driver dropped us on the outside of the security gate, we had to wander around trying to find the checkin desk. All we saw were dilapidated units under repair or demolition. Curiously we saw NO people!. After finding a worker he showed us the checkin office. The screen door was all torn and rusted and coming off the hinges., Well we checked in and had to fill out the paper work including our own credit card charge slip (no machine) ourselves.
Then they took us upstairs to the room. Ugh! We walked in, smelling all chlorine bleach, bad a/c and in one room the curtains were torn and hanging off the rods. In order to get to that room's bath you had to MOVE THE BED!
We asked about a restaurant/bar and were told there was none. We would have to taxi (at big$$) for all our meals and recreation!
Well we decided that we saw enough, and wanted to to call and find another place to stay, only to find out the phone did not work !
I could go on, but won't.
Finally we got out, they agreed, after us persisting, to refund our money (over $1,200 for 3 nights!).
DO NOT EVER GO TO THIS PLACE. Do not believe anything you see on the resort website.
Unique Quality: dilapidated units, chlorine bleach smell, bad a/c, torn cutains, no restaurant/bar, poor location, small beach at marina with oil slicks, phones dont work,
