i am arriving in tirana on the 4th of sep. at around 2.45pm and need to know if i can travel to saranda around that time or wait for an early morning bus.
are there any overnight buses?
it would save me having to stay in tirana for the night as i want to get to Corfu next day, and then i am coming back to albania and on to Macedonia and i have only nine days.
I don't know for sure but I think it's unlikely. When I was there a few years ago, it seemed there were few or no overnight buses within the country (although there are overnight international buses). And very few buses to places as distant as Saranda leave in the afternoon. There should certainly be early morning buses the following day. But as I say, I don't have any definite information.
thanks Alan, i think i will have to stay the night and go next day, i just like to make the most of the time.
I have just returned from Albania and found the public bus system quite good, so I think that if you want to leave Tirana, just go to the bus station and ask about buses to Saranda, or you could go to Berat - the loveliest city in Albania and spend one night there (easier to find accomodation). However I also found Tirana very pleasant with lots of outside coffee shops. Albania is quite easy to travel around, but you need to brush up your Italian.
thanks a lot for info, i was going to stay in Durres but now i will stay in Tirana so i can take the bus from there, i have visited Berat befor and it was great so now i am heading to Sarande and Gjirokaster and then a little stay in corfu and on to Macedonia.
i am so looking forward to it now.

nuk e di me car ta filloj. tirana eshte vendlinja ime dhe une jam rritur aty. per mua ngado qe te shkosh, mire ja kalon, pra shkoni nga te mundeni. car mungoj une nga tirana? shume gjera. duke filluar qe nga familja, shoqeria, lokalet, njerezit, kulturen, jeten.
In Abania, not only among women, but men as well kiss each other four times on the cheek when greeting.
Recently, due to influences from abroad people may kiss twice as well and between men, just a firm hand shake. This is more spread in Tirana, as for other cities, the local custom is stricktely preserved.
The stadium is just off Mother Teresa Square & next to the Sheraton hotel.
Two of Albania's top teams Sk Tirana & KF Partizani play here. It also holds matches for the Albanian national football team.
There is a ticket office next to the main entrance.
Close to the Botanical garden, it seems that the villa shown on the first photo was the headquarters of the park and botanical garden.
The second photo shows what is most likely to be the technical annexes of the park and botanical garden, a nursery for the plants of the flower-beds.
On the third photo, I have enlarged the strange agricultural engine they used. I had never seen the same anywhere else!

TWO RESTAURANTS IN ADA BOJANA ARE VERY NICE AND EXOTIC. THEY ARE LOCATED NEAR OF THE BIGGEST NUDISTIC BEACH IN BALKAN 'ADA BOJANA'. THE PRICES ARE NORMAL
'CALACRIJA' IS VERY FAMOUS RESTAURANT IN PG THE ATMOSPHERE IS GREAT (U HAVE THE FEELING THAT U ARE IN ITALY' ANND THE PRICES ARE ACCEPTABLE
'TRI RIBARA' RAFAILOVICI- WELL KNOWN FISHING RESTAURANT THE MENU IS DELICIOUS THE PRICES NORMAL
'FRASHERI' EXCELLENT FOOD. OLD AMBIENT AND VERY POLITED WAITRES GRILLED

Q: tirana to pogdorcia trains or buses "hi there does anybody know direct routes trains buses from tirana to pogdocia please"
A: "For sure no trains as there is no train line on that route, but i think there should be some kinda busses, but i do not know any details of it unfortunately."
