Modern and international

Great (4.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on October 19, 2009

I stayed at the Tirana International Hotel for two nights in September 2009, and really enjoyed my time there. The room was a little small, but nice and clean and with all the modern standard facilities; cable TV, phone, mini-bar, Wi-Fi, safety box, and air-conditioning... Good continental breakfast with hot items, a nice lobby bar, and a very friendly and helpful staff. The hotel is centrally located at the Skanderbeg Square, and there is a good view of the square from the rooms and the breakfast restaurant...

Tirana International Hotel

One of the most iconic buildings in Tirana is the Hotel International. Located on Skenderbeg Square it is in the perfect location, and was once the place to stay for visiting dignitaries and the few foreign nationals allowed into the country. It's grandeur is pure Soviet, but the views of the city square are reputed to be fantastic.

Because of its fame, and expense account popularity, it's one of the easiest places to book online.

Unique Quality: Great location and views.

In the very heart of the city

Good (3.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on June 14, 2006

The building is a high-rise hotel, which is a restored contemporary building dating from 1979. It has 13 or 14 floors and you get a great view if you stay on one of the upper levels. I got a room on the 9th, overlooking the Skenderbeg Square so it was a nice view.

The room was clean, 40 TV channels, clean bathroom, the standard which you would expect from such an affordable, typically business traveller hotel. The location is great, it is really in the heart of the city.

Breakfast is the usual standard as well, however, you need to ask for the eggs and a cook would prepare it as you wish, based on your request, right away.

Unique Quality: The view is unique if you get an upper-floor room overlooking the hills or the Skenderbeg square.

Directions: Right on the corner of the Skenderbeg Square which is basically the main square of Tirana, next to the Opera House

Hotel Tirana

The photos were taken in 1988 and are here only to show how was the hotel at this time. The rooms were simple but comfortable.

In 2001 it was totally renovated to a four star hotel of international standards by an Italian firm, while still retaining its grandiose past features.

The prices are the 2006 prices taken on the web.
