From Nice to Andorra la Vella

by durenkamp

Hello,

We will be going to Nice. From there we want to go to Andorra de Vella. We want to go by train and bus. Can you go from Marseille to Andorra to some train station and than continue by bus ?(would last 10 hours (www.bahn.de). Or is it better to go to Toulouse and than take the bus or train and bus ?

Any suggestions ?

Andorra has no railway station, you can get by train from Toulouse-Matabieu as far as Latour de Carol-Enveitg (3 hours) and then continue by bus. From Nice-Ville to Toulouse even a direct train takes about 7 hours (e.g. dep. 10.08 arr. 17.23) and at some times you have to change in Marseille or Aix. See http://bahn.hafas.de/bin/query.exe/en for train timetables.
You can also go by bus from Toulouse, see http://www.cars-trg.fr/ligne-andorre-bus.htm

Travel Tips for Andorra la Vella

In red uniforms

by matcrazy1

Pretty and smiling policewomen of Andorra la Vella show off on the middle of some main intersections. They wear bright red jackets and caps, white shirts with a tie and black skirts above knee. I had to stop and amaze their very useful job for both drivers and pedestrians.

Well, I've got to know that Andorra has no military forces thus can save a lot for local police, I suppose. Andorra's defense is the responsibility of Spain and France but Andorra doesn't pay for it.

In the mountains

I went by train from France. The train doesn't go to Andorra. Somewhere already in the mountains you step out of the train. It was sunny. There you take the bus and go further. You don't know where you go, because everything is hidden behind the mountain ranges. That filling of mistery and unknown is pleasent. You pass by some ski centers, and than again nothing, but it's funny to see some animation so high in the mountains, far away from the rest of the world. Andorra la Vella is the capital, a busy commercail town in the velly. Very special feeling, a bit like you were on another planet.
