Most students live at the "studentinheim" on Mozartstrasse. About 1/2kilometer from the university.

I am thinking about moving to Klagenfurt at the end of October, so I am trying to solve the same problem.

I give you a link to find shared flats:
http://www.uni-klu.ac.at/uniklu/bb/bb_liste.jsp?orgkey=0&thema=7

This one is another good place to find flats in Klagenfurt:
http://www.willhaben.at/iad/realestate/lettings/apartment/result?channelId=1&parent_areaid=2&userid=0&areaId=201&PROPERTY_TYPE=3%3B110%3B111%3B101%3B112%3B16%3B102%3B113%3B100&searchKey=SEARCH_ID_REALESTATE_LETTINGS_APARTMENT&siteId=1&sort=2

Unfortunately, places in studentheim are not very easy to obtain.

If you have further questions, you can send me a mail: oscarb75(at)gmail.com.

You are moving to a beautiful place. I hope I will find the courage to do the same soon.

Travel Tips for Klagenfurt

Wappensaal

by Bjorgvin

Visit the hall of coat of arms (Wappensaal) in Klagenfurt's Landhaus. It contains more than 665 coats of arms of Carinthian aristocrats. The Landhaus is situated between the Heiligengeistplatz (Square of the Holy Ghost) and the Alter Platz (The Old Square) and is one of the most interesting buildings in the city. It is now the seat of the Carinthian Parliament.

Austrian costumes

by ATLC

The traditional Austrian costumes are held in high esteem. You can buy ready made or make them yourself. The quality of the fabrics is exquisite. I like this sort of thing, really.
The Heimatwerk shop mentioned in my shopping tips has all the trimmings to make your own costume.

The Karawanken Alps

by Maximilian21

Are a beautiful moutain range separating slovenia and Austria.
Lake Worthesee is a the foot of the mountians and to see these moutains fom the lake, youd think your dreaming.
The summer seasons give rise to some truly beautiful hiking and walking experiences.
The fresh air definately does you a lot of good.

Villacher Fahrzeugmuseum - 20km from Klagenfurt

by globetrott

Villacher Fahrzeugmuseum
see lots of great vintage-cars again! While other museums are showing special cars that almost nobody could afford in the past, this nice museum in Villach shows mainly the common cars of the ordinary people of past times and most of them are still in a very good condition. It was great for me to see again some of the cars that my parents had over the years since my childhood, it was just like a step back into these times. This museum shows also a nice collection of motorbikes and mopeds / mofas and bicycles, plus radios, photoequipment, sewingmachines and a lot more collectibles of the past 100 years. There are lots of photos of these cars and the other exhibits of this museum in my Villach-travelogues !
----------------------------------
Villach is just 20km from Klagenfurt, thats
just a few minutes to drive on the highway !
This car-museum is open for visitors:
daily between 10.00am and 06.00pm
entrancefee is 6,50 Euros
a printed guidebook is 2,90 Euros extra
and it includes also the fee for photographers !
How to get to the museum:
It is in the outskirts of Villach in a village called "Zauchen", take a look here on the map below!
Take highway-exit Wernberg when coming from Klagenfurt. Coming from the city-centre of Villach take B83 in direction Klagenfurt and wait for the signposts of Zauchen & the museum !

Our little Klagenfurt has its own airport, you also can get here by train, car or with your motorbike in summer.
Rent a motorbike or car - very expensive, go by bus (you can buy a ticket for the whole day) or you go by bike or on a horses back.
