Clocks, Clocks, Clocks...
by A2002
I have noticed one thing in Klagenfurt is that there will be clocks almost everywhere around the town. Whenever I need to know what is the time then, I do not need to look at my watch. Just look up and there will be a clock around to tell me the time...
Save me the trouble of moving up the sleeves of my thick jacket for the watch... :-)
Wörthersee Mandl created the Wörthersee
by globetrott
This Wörthersee Mandl
once created the Wörthersee
according to an old ledgend the mighty Wörthersee was created by this tiny troll a long time ago. There were rich and powerful people living there and they were dancing and singing at the day before easter. In that moment a tiny troll entered the dancinghall and asked the people there to go home and think of the eastertime the other day. But the people just laughed at him. So the troll opened his small vat and all of the city was drowned and that way the Wörthersee was created...
My last 3 photos: the founder of the city on a monument.
Dreiländereck
by Maximilian21
Dreiländereck is in my opinion the best hiking in the worthersee region.
Dreiländereck lies in a three-border area and is easily accessible, which makes it one of the most attractive ski resorts in the Kärnten province. 10 km of safe and well-kept trails, a spacious parking lot for 1200 vehicles, a recently built snowboard park, an 8,5 km long sledding trail, well-kept cross-country ski trails, and a skating rink attract many tourists

Austria's largest transport-museum They say its the largest museum of ALL means of transport, so this museum is not for cars only, but also for old trams, trains, buses and trucks plus some other technical achievements like steam-machines and old industrial machineries. You will find this museum inside an old production-hall and some of the old post-buses of the museum will take you from the station of Ferlach to the museum on a regular basis. from that station there is also a museum-steamtrain leaving every day in summer !

To/From Klagenfurt by Train
by antistar
Klagenfurt sits on the main Vienna to Venice run, and you can get direct trains to either city. Klagenfurt is also the terminus for a branch of the Dortmund to Zagreb run, which splits at Villach in Austria, with half of the train going to Klagenfurt. This train also passes through Salzburg, Munich, Stuttgart, Bonn and Dusseldorf. The Munich trip takes about 5 hours and costs 54 euros and Vienna is about four hours away.
