Since I am coming every year to the nearby Strass im Strassertale in order to stock up my wine cellar I use of practical reasons (avoiding to drive after great wine tasting) to sleep in this place close to "my" vintner. But it is also a great and economic stay for those exploring the area, in particular the cyclists who fill the house which is close to the lower end of the Wachau on the weekends in the cycling season.
The place is absolutely quiet with a swimmingpool in a fine garden with fruittrees. The rooms are generous and the breakfast is good.
We stayed here after a great wine tasting (and purchase) in Strass im Strassertale (a few km from Krems). In the morning the influence of the wine has faded away and we could start to drive after a deep sleep and a great breakfast. It was already a little too cold to enjoy the open air swimmingpool in the garden between apple and apricot trees.
It is a small (25 beds) cosy quiet family run place, very nice rooms and reasonably priced. 10 km from Krems it is very popular among the numerous cyclists enjoying the Wachau tour, therefore it is wise to book ahead, especially on weekends. It costs 27 EUR/person/night, from 3rd night on cheaper.
