Haus Veronika: Superb Guest House
Haus Veronika is located in Obertraun (about 4km from Hallstatt, 5min drive from cable car station). The rooms are nice, beds are clean and has got attached bathroom. The breakfast is simply fantastic. And the British lady welcoming us provided very valuable guide and tips. In the morning, outside the guest house, the panoramic view of the mountains, lake, and Hallstatt is simply breathtaking

Kraft Tanken Guesthouse: Hallstatt's finest
We chose to stay at Kraft Tanken because we want to be as near to the lake as we can and it was one of the finest place we found. The owner was nice & the place was very cozy…what’s most important was the scenery!
Check out the link to find out more about the place we stayed & if you want to make a booking.
Great view of the lake, Great amenities, Well furnished, Very near to local supermarket and handicrafts, Great atmosphere.

Camping Klausner - Höll: Hallstatt's Campground
This is a small campground in a beautiful ravine. There are 28 plots. Caravans and tents are separated. There is a bar there too!! The faciliities include free table and chairs if you wish them, nice private showers, clean toilets and lots of them, a common room with a t.v., clothes washer for hire, and a kitchen and fridge in side the facility.
It was 21 euro, for 2 people, tent, and a car. All priced separately.
The walk into town is just 7 mins. and there is a beach along the lake that NO ONE (especially the tourists) go to.
There is a pizza place just kitty corner from the entrance. Nice guys work there but the pizza is the worst I have ever had except for frozen.

Although the actual name of the place we stayed in escapes me, I do have a photograph of the place. We had no reserations when we arrived in Hallstatt, we merely made arrangements with the girl who worked at the tourist information office. She called ahead to inquire about rooms and let them know we were on our way. the rooms in Hallstatt were more than affordable 20-30 Euros per night per person. We had our choice of three different places. We chose the room highest on the hill thinking it would have a spectacular view of the water, and we were not dissappointed.

Gasthof - Restaurant BERGFRIED: Wonderful hotel close to Hallstatt Lake
My wife and I stayed at the hotel Bergfried which is very close to the lake (in fact we had a view to the lake from our room) and is also in walking distance to the lift that takes you up the the Saltmine in Hallstatt.
Wonderful service, excellent breakfast buffet and really nice, large and clean rooms.

Haus Lenz: Hallstatt's accommodation with the best outlook
Nice accommodation for a family. Lowly but pretty furnished rooms, clean and quiet , with an unrepeatable vista of the lake and mountains. Residents are excellent people, they give credence to you and you may absolute confide them. The only slip was an absent small kitchen. In spite of this I would like to recommend Haus Lenz for all people, who like quiet and nice outlook.
There is not a motorway near the house. Your luggage will get into house by cableway, but you will have to go up the stairs from lake level, so it is only for people with fit legs. The great outlook is worth the effort.
nice outlook, excellent residents

House Sarstein: Great pension
The pension was $50 a night w/breakfast.
The breakfast was ample and everything was very fresh. The Ficsher family we very friendly and helpful.
The setting was beautiful and very quiet. The hotel is about a ten minute walk to the left of the ferry dock, you cant miss it.
It is mostly an up hill walk but manageable.
I would recomend this place, we did not stay anywhere else in town during our 3 day stay.
The view is from a storybook! takes your breath away.

Pension Seethaler, et al . . .: Private Rooms are the way to go
I didn't spend the night in Hallstatt (next time I will . . . ) but the best lodging here is usually in a private room which can be arranged for you at the tourist office. You can also book online at the website listed below. Click on your language preference first, then on the link for Accommodations, then on Private Rooms. You'll have a list of options with brief descriptions, phone numbers and an online reservation form if you'd like to book a room.

Guesthouse Madlberger: A quite nice guesthouse in Hallstatt
The owners of the guesthouse are very kind people. The house is close to the lakeside and the centre too. It's clean, nice, well-equipped and You don't need to take own bedclothes with You.
There are three apartments in the house with own kitchen, bath and toilet.
The prices of the apartments are between 50 and 100 Euro.
