Family fun
Mondsee is a great place for families to come and enjoy beach and water-related activities in a relaxed and beautiful environment. The small promenade down by the waterfront also has some grass-covered areas for children to play.

Thank you.
Mond means moon.
It is pronounced almost like the English word "moaned".
See is a lake.
I guess it very much sounds like the English word "say" (the "a" is stretched a little)
moan -saay
thanking you
while you are here - how do i pronounce Ulm?
oolm with the U as in look
good idea to get the pronunciation right, a friend of mine ordered a Rum and coke, the waitress asked , puzzled "Rahm and coke"? (Rahm is cream)and when friend nodded a glass of coke accompanied by a dish of cream appeared.
Reminds old Cliffie of the time in Germany when an American asked the ticket inspector, as the train approached a station: Is this Bonn? But he pronouced it with a very strong American accent. The inspector looked puzzled for a moment and then replied: Ja, Bahn, Deutsche Bundesbahn.
On another occasion an American asked if there was a bathroom on the train. He was told: No, but you can have a bath at the main station when you arrive.
M-oaoaoa-nD-say (a long oa and a cler D).

THAT was the strangest part of the building in my opinion.
1 oven for the young farmer's family and just next to it the other oven for the old farmers ...
Everything is covered with a thick black layer of smoke and on top of the ovens you may see the places, where the food was fixed in order to get smoked.
This was mostly the only place to wash yourself and get water for the cooking or to feed the animals.
This well is really at a very pittoresque place now, with the famous monastery-church of Mondsee in the background.
All of the family of the framer and also his employees were having their meals there.
Everything looks very simply today , but for that time plenty of people were happy to be able to work on a farm for free lodging and food and a few coins every month.
No unions then, no pensions, no social welfare - just the goodwill of the farmers, when you were too old to work...
Inside the monastery you may visit a museum with local exhibits like these costumes, some old paintings and sculptures of the church.
This museum was in fact not very special, in my opinion, BUT at least it gave me the idea to visit the Rauchhaus, that I would have missed otherwise.
