View of the 1000 yr old church
There are many benches along the Wolfgangsee lake at St Wolfgang. When the weather is good and the sky is clear, it is one of the best feeling in the world to sit at these benches and admire the scenery, relax, chit-chat with your friends and loved ones.
My wife and I had a really enjoyable time here during our honeymoon in June 2007, just look at the photos and you know what I mean.
Well, most people from St. Wolfgang certainly do not dress like this guy, but on certain occasions you'll find that locals will dress in traditional clothes, such as lederhosen and this Styrian hat worn by this guy.
Mondsee is not too far away from St Wolfgang and is often included on a Salzkammergut tour as it is renowned for the Sound of Music wedding church - St Michaels.
Mondsee means "Moon Lake" - so-called due to its crescent shape which is clearly seen from the Schafberg summit above St Wolfgang.
There is a small admission charge to see the interior of the church, but you should definitely overcome any philosophical objections and fork over the modest fee. Upkeep of medieval and baroque art ain't cheap.
From St Wolfgang the Schafberg can be ascended on foot or by the famous cog railway. We did this trip in the summer but as you can see in this pic (please enlarge) even then there had been a scittering of snow on the Schafberg so dress up warmly it may be windy and snowy up there.
