I did not stay here but this is a nice hotel, maybe the best, from what I saw.
Unique Quality: The hotel has all amenities and then more. Welness area, with that pool and whirlpool near the lake, but probably another pool and sauna indoor. Four star hotel so if you want a pampered stay you can definitely choose this hotel.
This is one of the hotels than have amazing view of the lake, as it is "am see" meaning on the lake .. meaning on it's edge. Of course rooms are 20% more expensive on lakeside but worth the view.

Austrian Tradition
A beautiful traditional Austrian hotel at the lake front on St Wolfgang See. Several room categories which can be expensive. Single rooms are small but adequate. Rooms with lake view are preferable.
Hotel has good restaurants and bars and rooms can be booked on a ‘half pension’ basis which provides breakfast and dinner.
Hotel is in an excellent location right in the old town centre. Parking available but at a distance to the hotel. The best place to stay in St Wolfgang and though expensive, a must at least once.
Unique Quality: Historical hotel (operetta named in honour of it) on lake front. Great views (lake view rooms and restaurant) Centrally located with traditional Austrian rooms.

St. Wolfgang's most famous . . .
I didn't stay here, but by most accounts, this is the finest hotel in St. Wolfgang. It was famously the site for the play by Ralph Benatzky, Im Weissen Rossl am Wolfgangsee, which was written in 1896 and is still performed to this day in St. Wolfgang.
Unique Quality: I visited the public areas here, which are all very nice. There are plenty of places to sit and enjoy the atmosphere and there are two popular restaurants here as well. Check out the website below for more details.
The other very cool thing about this hotel is the pool that juts out into the lake. I was there in the summertime, but there are some pictures of the pool in the winter, with the cold waters of the lake steaming around the warm pool waters. It looks great!

Romantic Hotel at the White Horse Inn
By far, one of the larger hotels we saw in Sankt Wolfgang, it is also very famous. It gets it's fame from the famous operetta composed by Ralph Benatzky in 1930. The operetta has been translated into four languages and tells about a holiday romance on the Wolfgangsee.
It's name means "The White Horse Inn" It was built in 1878 and has remained a family run business for several generations. My wife and I did not stay at this beautiful hotel resort, but we did dine at the restaurant and we observed kids frolicing in their outdoor pool (a very special pool because it is filled with the clear blue lake water).
It really seemed like a very nice place to stay and from it's website, it seems that it is an amazing little hotel. Give it a try, I intend to try it some day!

In the winter, it is heated and makes for a great winter swim. Fountains at the end of the pool make it stand out. The hotel offers many ways to pamper yourself and many many recreational activities.
