The resort consists of four buildings. There are 156 apartments in total, all of them are fully equipped and rented by the week.
One of the four buildings is the former Hotel Kaiserhof, a historic de-luxe hotel that counted kings and celebrities among its guests. The other buildings are new.
The resort has an indoor swimming pool, gym, spa, solarium, shop, restaurant, children's club. It is possible to get several kinds of spa treatments.
During the high season a studio apartment (sleeps 2) costs EUR 534 per week, a 1-bedroom apartment (sleeps 4) EUR 648.
The four buildings are connected by underground corridors, so even in the worst weather it is easy to go from your apartment to the various facilities and to the garage.
Almost all the apartments have balconies and a great view of the town and the valley. Not too far from the more upmarket resort town of Badgastein is the small picturesque village of St Johann im Pongau.
The accommodation at the youth hostel had very comfortable beds and the hostel was clean throughout with friendly staff.
One of the best youth hostels I found in Europe. It's in the style of a traditional old Austrian farmhouse. Leave a Comment

We chose this hotel because it is in the group of the Wanderhotels and it is also a spa hotel.
It is a little bit out of town, in a panoramic place.
There is free service of transfer to/from the train station.
The Wanderhotels have special services for mountain walkers: a competent person for contact, guided hiking tours, hiking books and maps, they also lend rucksacks and walking sticks free of charge.

I did not stay here, but I noticed this hotel when I went shopping in a nearby supermarket, and the rates I saw posted in a large sign on the street were surprisingly low for a place that looked so nice.
In fact, the Krone is listed as a hostel, becase it has three dormitory rooms (rate € 15 per night). However, it has no age limits nor curfew, and in fact the Association of Hoteliers has classified it as a 3-stars hotel, with a lobby, a bar, 14 single rooms, 18 double rooms, and 26 rooms with 3 or 4 beds. All rooms have en suite bathroom and balcony.
The rates, which include breakfast, all taxes, and free wi-fi.
A single room costs € 25
A twin room is € 20 per person
A room with 3 or 4 beds costs € 18 per person
Moreover it is centrally located, near the station and near shops and restaurants. The staff are so friendly and helpful, the place is so clean, with a great restaurant/bar, tv room, breakfast room, seperate boot room and amazing showers. There are private rooms and dorms both I stayed in and were great. It is amazing value for money and you will have to book in advance for private rooms.
This is hostel/hotel is right on the slopes, so fantastic views. You could throw a snow ball and it would hit the ski lifts. Right next to the hotel
is a cable car station, which will
transport you in winter to a beautiful
ski area which is right on the doorstep !
