Best Western Hotel Elefant
An Excellent hotel right in the heart of old city. it is located in the area where cars can't drive, only walking but we were able to pull up to load/unload bags. In May 2002 I had a rate of $112 per night for double room. Area is Excellent!

The Hotel Elefant is located...
The Hotel Elefant is located right in the middle of Old Town. My family required 2 rooms(reserved in advance), one with twin beds as we have two teens. When we arrived, there were no twin rooms available, so they gave us their penthouse suite for the same price! Built in the 1400s, the rooms are small but charming and you can't beat the location.
We have just spent two nights at this hotel and it was lovely. The location in the centre of the old town with its cobblestones and beautiful churches could not have been better. We unfortunately forgot to stipulate a non-smoking room but they kindly moved us with no fuss. Although our room did not have a view it was very nicely furnished and quiet. We ate lunch at the restaurant which we would highly recommend. Our waiter fortunately spoke perfect english and was very knowledgeable about the different austrian wines. He was able to tell us the history of the hotel and why it was called Hotel Elefant! We would definately stay here again.
Luxury base in Salzburg at an affordable price

We stayed at the Hotel Elefant for two nights as part of a ten day tour of Austria and Switzerland.
This hotel could not have been better placed right in the centre of the old city and within walking distance of most of the sites including the river.
We had a hire car and parked on the perimeter of the pedestrianised area within which the hotel was located. I walked a couple of streets and found the hotel down a small street. The receptionist spoke good English and promptly gave me a map showing how I could drive to and from the hotel door to drop off our luggage. The streets around here were access only and we drove right up to the door.
We were then able to drive a short distance to an underground car park and were able to obtain a hotel pass and park very cheaply for the duration of the stay. We did not need the car during our two days as there was plenty to see on foot.
We reserved a room via Expedia some four months before and secured a room with a view at no extra cost. Many of the rooms do not have a view as it is located in the dense old town so book early to get one on the upper floors.
We were not disappointed and our rooms were very well appointed with a separate seating area, two flat screen TV's, many luxury add-ons and spotlessly clean. We had views of the palace and charming Salzburg skyline.
Breakfast was included and taken in a very nice dining room. The whole hotel was appointed in traditional old Austrian decor. The hotel staff were always there to help and could not do enough for you.
Salzburg is a lovely City. I would recommend doing a Mozart dinner concert at [--]. Costing 45 euros pp we had a four course dinner and were entertained for two hours with a combination of opera and chamber orchestra.
We took a boat trip on the river. Again, a very entertaining 40 minute trip with the boat actually performing a Vienna Waltz!
I would definitely stay at the Hotel Elefant again. It was centrally located and luxuriously appointed at an affordable price suited to many budget travellers like myself.

The Elefant is a simple, clean 4 star hotel in the heart of saltzburg.
Staff are friendly and helpful, and the rooms are as you would expect for this type of hotel.
Breakfast is reasonable without being spectacular.

Perfect hotel for Salzburg Very central 10 mins by taxi from the airport and 20 mins walk to the station All requirements were met by the Hotel ie Quiet non smoking room Larger room was certainly large Hall cloakroom Settee table and chairs ! Excellent Breakfast plentiful and good choice and any request you made was met immediately Reception was very helpful in getting us tickets for The Mozart Dinner even though the tourist office said it was fully booked !! We would certainly stay there again when we return to Salzburg

Stayed here for three nights in March and were very satisfied with the hotel. Although we had asked for a non smoking room we were given a smoking room. We asked if there were any other rooms available and were given a choice of two, the staff were very obliging. The room was large with a seperate toilet, bath and amazing power shower. The bed was very comfortable with nice bedding. The room was very clean although the decoration was a little tired. Breakfast was more than adequate. The location is perfect, right in the centre of the old town. If I had to make any criticism it would be that they could do with investing in some new towels as the ones in our room were well past there best. Other than this great place for a short break.

We stayed for one night and enjoyed great service, nice rooms which were Ok on size and a super breakfast. This place was all about great value, great service and an excellent location. Salzburg is super for a couple of days

We had a nice stay at the Elefant, and feel it was a good value. Getting there was a nightmare- our GPS failed and we spent two hours trying to find the hotel, sleepless from a night on the train. Pedestrians totally mobbed the street leading to the hotel, we were told we could not drive it- we should have plowed on and gotten there in 5 minutes, rather than going crazy and wasting so much time. But it was the eve of a holiday and the town was very festive, which explains our bad experience getting there. Once there, we had a lovely room with a view of the town, well sized and quite nice. Staff was gracious and kind, and breakfast was good as well. All shops closed the day of the holiday so we missed out on a lot of fun. Salzburg is lovely and we would like to go back, the Elefant is very well placed and we'd be happy to return.
Great Hotel

This is a great hotel, extremely clean, tidy absolutely centrally located bang in the middle & near everything no problems at all. Nice breakfast and very friendly staff there are no faults at all. Really easy to find just a 10 min taxi ride from the airpot and only costing 12 euros to get to the hotel bargain. I would definitely visit this hotel again.
