The room in the highest, 6th floor was clean,not small, not big, just the average. The staff was very kind.
I found really great rates on www.hoteltravel.com - 68 Euro per room/per night.
The hotel is located near railway station and only 15 minutes to the city centre.The bus stop is in front of the hotel.The breakfast includes big variety of food - from salami,cheese,eggs, butter,marmalades to cereals,fruits and great choice of bread and cakes.
More than 15 sorts of tea,coffee,milk,hot chocolate. I ordered espresso every morning and didn't have to pay for it. We stayed at the Stieglbrau Hotel for 4 nights in March 2006, twin room with good buffet breakfast at very good bargain price of £220 total via Octopus online booking. There are 6 floors of rooms, with lift. The room was medium sized with good bathroom and looked out over the railway track towards the station. Although on a busy street and overlooking the railway, the double glazed windows kept it quiet and we were never disturbed by traffic noise. An excellent buffet breakfast is served from 6.30am tiil 10am. The restaurant and bars also have a fair value menu for meals mid-day and evening.
Its about 15 - 20 minutes walk from the hotel into the old town across the river, either along Rainerstrasse, or through the Mirabelle Gardens. Many buses (electric trolley buses) pass along the street going into the old town, so easy to get into and out of the old town if you do not wish to walk. The buses also go direct to the main Railway Station.
The bar serves all the Stiegl beers and good atmosphere with good service. We also had good service from the Desk Staff most of whom speak some English and always willing to answer questions about Salzburg.
At the price we booked the hotel, it was very good value and would definately go again. The Electric trolley Bus service No 2 that runs to Salzburg Airport (via the Railway Station) stops very close to the Hotel. So if coming from the Airport, the Bus stops almost outside the Hotel, by the Congress Hall on the other side of the road. Returning to the Airport by the Bus No 2, the bus stops almost right outside the Hotel. The buses run every 15 minutes from about 7am till 6pm, then about every 20 minutes. Bus takes 30 minutes to get to the Airport. Leave a Comment |
