Salzburg Train Station

by helenalu

Appreciate if someone can advise me whether the train station serving train from Prague to Salzburg is the same for train from Salzburg to Vienna.
How far is the train station away from Hotel Ramada Salburg.
Thank you

Yes, trains for both Vienna and Prague leave from the Hauptbahnhof (Hbf), or main train station. I'm not familiar with your hotel, but Google Maps says a hotel called Ramada Hotel Salzburg City Center (at Südtirolerplatz 13), is roughly 250 meters (yards) from the train station.

I should also note there are only a couple of direct trains from Salzburg to Prague. You will most likely have to change trains in Linz, and possibly one or two additional times.

Which train route is best & fastest from Prague to Salzburg and what is the train fare from Salzburg to Vienna

Re: Salzburg Train Station

by travelfrosch

Salzburg to Vienna is a direct train, with Austrian Inter City (OeIC), Austrian Euro city (OeEC), and RailJet (RJ) trains making the route. Railjet is the fastest, taking just over 2 1/2 hours. The other trains take just over 3 hours. Regular fare is EUR 49.40 one way, though it is possible to get discounts sometimes. Take a look at http://www.oebb.at/en/index.jsp for details.

As for Prague to Salzburg, I believe Marco already gave you advice on that in another thread. The Wasteels travel office in the Prague main train station is a good source of up-to-date travel information once you get there.

The greatest site in all of...

The greatest site in all of Salzburg would be the Maribell Gardens. Hands down it is the single most beautiful place in all of Europe! Having far too many Steigl's (local beer) and wandering the city with some girls from Canada, Australia and Britian.

Go in winter

by WrigleyTodd

Salzburg is one of several cities in Europe that are equally beautiful in winter. A snow covered Salzburg town is just as great as a blooming Mirabell garden Salzburg. Plus, if you go around Christmas time, you'll get to visit all the Christmas markets. Be sure to stay for the huge New Year's Eve festival and fireworks.

Nearby the catacombs, check out the Hohensalzburg Fortress, all the way on top of the mountain. You can walk up a stairway and a steep path to the Fortress, or take the funicular. At the time i went there, they were doing major renovations on the Fortress, and couldn't take the inside tour, so just checked out the outside.

Salzburg is a unique City which host both the very old and the Very Educated. So always be prepared to represent your country with pride but not arrogance. You may end up making yourself look like a fool. Keep an open mind and learn from their long standing success.
