Broken Ribs!!

I slipped and fell in the shower the first day at the hotel and broke two ribs. Be VERY careful when entering the right side of the shower since it is sloped. There is not a slip free surface on it. Was the hotel helpful? Heck no!! I will never again visit a Crowne Plaza or ihg.com hotel and recommend you do the same.

Touch of class.

We booked into this hotel due to attending a international conference within the hotel. The hotel is noted for being on the "wrong side of the river" but actually its in a great walking distance to all major attractions.

The Crowne Hotel is located one block from Mirabelle Gardens and approximately 10 minutes walk through the beautiful gardens to Old Town. Its a very comfortable and pleasant hotel with delightful restaurants and facilities.

Check- in – Fast and efficient

Room – Our room 311 is called a suite which is slightly larger than a normal standard room. The room consists of a king size bed, lounge suite, coffee table and good size working desk with Internet connection. (no broadband) mini Bar and tv is also supplied. Other conference members staying in standard size rooms said their rooms were also extremely agreeable too.

Bathroom – Spacious with shower over bath and two vanity basins. The bathroom appears to have been recently renovated . Separate toilet off the lounge room.

Restaurants – Breakfast is served in the lobby level and offers excellent variety with friendly staff. The main restaurant is called Rainerstube which is elegantly furnished offering an traditional menu with good quality food. Its however rather expensive.

Unique Quality: Downstairs in the basement is a lovely cosy casual restaurant and bar called Pitter Keller which serves traditional meals and local specialities. Its a great place to dine if one is looking for a casual meal. There is also an outdoor garden terrace opened during summer months.

Bar – There is the Plaza bar located on lobby level which serves coffee and drinks. It has a delightful atmosphere and is fabulous place for an after dinner drink closing at 1.00am. The other bar is located in the basement which also offers a warm and relaxing atmosphere closing at midnight.

Facilities – There is a gym, sauna, solarium and swimming pool located in the basement.

Parking – is available around the corner of the building. A daily fee is charged EUR20-.

Overall – We stayed for five days and found the Crowne to be excellent. Its a comfortable and well organized hotel with friendly and efficient staff. I highly recommend it for those looking for reasonable rates with a touch of class and elegance.

Tip – If driving this hotel can be difficult to find, follow the hotel route sign and look for the Sheraton as the Crowne is just opposite. (no sign for the Crowne).

refurbished tradition !

For decades the "Hotel Pitter" was a traditional Salzburg landmark, buildt around a famous beer-cellar. A hotel, made for farmers, coming to town as well as for businessmen and the hoards of tourists Salzburg is hosting the year round. In the 90ies, Hotel Pitter was refurbished and modernised into a top-hotel under the "Crowne Plaza" flag.
Offering a fine restaurant and the traditional Pitter-cellar , a bar, pool and fitness-center, the Pitter leaves no wishes open. Rooms are large, modern and offer all amenities of a 4-star hotel.
If you like to sleep early, omit to book a room with "garden-view", as the lifely beergarden noises won`t allow you to catch your sleep before 10pm
The Pitter is situated in the centre of Salzburg. Located next to the beautiful Mirabell Garden, opposite the Salzburg Congress Centre and only five minutes' walking distance to the Old Town.

Unique Quality: A traditional Salzburg hotel modernised and refurbished, centrally located.

Crown Plaza

Very nice hotel. Very clean and well kept. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Great location. Very easy walk to just about anywhere (fortress, mozart house, St. Peter's, etc.) Prices start at around 80 euro a night.

A Good Night's Rest

The rooms at the Pitter were nice, a little larger than I expected given European standards and overall comfortable. The king size bed was just two double beds pushed together, but was otherwise comfortable. Both the hotel itself and the rooms were modern and recently updated. The food was typical Austrian - not bad, but relatively bland compared to U.S. standards. The restaurant in the basement was the best out of the three in the hotel we ate in.

Unique Quality: The best part of the hotel was the bar. We do not drink a lot, but due to the rain, we spent a lot of time in the hotel bar with others attending the conference we were attending at the hotel. The bartenders spoke English well and were generally conversational, though they were not necessarily exceptionally friendly - more along the lines of "tolerant." The wine was generally very good.

Top Class Service

by TripAdvisor Member gotosee

Stayed at the Crowne Plaza Salzburg for four days in November,to celebrate my husbands 60th birthday.

I chose this hotel on the reviews posted on Trip Advisor. What an absolute Gem of a hotel.Very comfortable surroundings (bedrooms very slightly dated looking but immaculate and well cared for),but what is the most 5 Star quality is the fantastic staff.Every single staff member gives 100%.

The breakfasts are fantastic, the pitter kellar is also good for food but is very busy most evenings.
We can,t wait to return to this hotel and will now try some other "Crowne Plaza " hotels in other areas to see if we can be so fortunate again.
Well Done Trip Advisor.

Holiday or business

Crowne Plaza Salzburg provided s wth all we needed for a two night stay in Salzburg. Parking was not at the hotel but there were some bays reserved outside for unloading luggage etc. The room we had was a standard and quite small but the bed was enormous to compensate. Also, we travelled with an 8 month old and although a travel cot was provided, towels for him, were not. There was free internet and a cosy sitting room off the lobby, which we used. The location was good and we are keen walkers but some not so keen, might think it too far away......We found that there wasn't really a suitable restaurant at the hotel for us, given the season and the fact only the formal one was open but we found somewhere else to eat. The hotel staff were very friendly etc but this hotel, to us, seemed very much geared towards the north American visitor or business traveller.

Very Accomodating

by A TripAdvisor Member

We (Husband, wife and adult daughter) booked the hotel through a local tour operator for a one night stay in August 06. While the hotel was expensive it seemed close to the tour pickup which we had booked. (Ice Caves & Sound Of Music) This was convenient as the operator had hotel pick up but the drop off was at their main location. I didn't realise at the time that this was on the other side of the river of the old town but it still only took 10 - 15 mins to walk which we did on two occasions.
We had a very early flight and arrived at the hotel at around 08:30 in the morning, I was hoping that we would be allowed to check in before lunch time and was expecting to check our bags and do some early morning site seeing. However when I asked the question could we check in now? (08:30) I was very pleasantly surprised to hear that we would be no problem as the room was already available. This was great news to my wife who needed to lie down after an early start to the day. This made a great start to our whirlwind visit to Salzburg and we found the rest of our stay at the Crowne Plaza Hotel Salzburg a very pleasant experience.
The front desk staff were very pleasant and helpful and I would recommend a stay here.

Great Services ...OK Location

by TripAdvisor Member R&G-Opine

We really liked the Crowne Plaza Pitter. All the staff we encountered were really terrific. Parking, like most cities we visited on this trip, was non-existent, but the hotel took care of getting our car to a garage and back for around $20 euro a day. Painful yes, but still a nice service and apparently no upcharge from what the garage charges them. Our room was very nice (an upgraded size I think) and was very comfortable though a bit dull. The lobby bar is classy, but definately get down into the Pitter Keller. What a great old space to enjoy a fresh cold beer. I disagree partly with many of the reviewers who said "great location". Truthfully, it is quite a walk from the old town. Say for example that you go to the Mozart Dinner at St Peter's (which is excellent) you would be looking at a 15 minute walk at least. We took a cab back to the hotel for around six Euro.
