Best places to visit 90 degree (f) weather
by bookworm101
Music and Mozart are everywhere, you can't miss them. I would recommend visiting the churches particularly if the heat and humidity are high. Few places have air conditioning, but the places of worship have a wide variety of architecture and are cool enough to permit taking the time to appreciate the artistry.
Sometimes it is good to wander on a snowy night
by Jim70563
Well, this is an easy one. Last winter, in December, I was in Salzburg for dinner. It was after 2000 so all the shops were closed, just people out for late dinners or socializing in taverns and coffee houses.
As I walked into the square directly below the castle (See the picture, the archways are center) I heard music being played softly on a stringed instrument I did not recognize. I walked towards the location the music was coming from. In the archways leading into the square was a man playing a large wooden stringed instrument. He was singing a sad sounding song in a Balkans language. I sat there listening to the haunting music as it echoed throughout the empty square. There was a light snow falling and I was the only audience in sight. I walked around the square listening to his music. I went back and gave him a $20.00 bill (US dollars) I had not hit an ATM yet to get Shillings. He smiled and stopped playing. we both looked up at the snow and he began to play again, another sad sounding song. I smiled and walked away.
The fact that moments like this can happen here is why I love living in Europe.
Live WebCams

Take a look on the various webcams in Salzburg. Sometimes the live picture might not be satisfying (like on March 1st) - click on "Schoenwetter" for a sunny view or "Nacht" for a night view:

Walk east of Mozartplatz
by WrigleyTodd
One of the most commonly overlooked sections of Salzburg is just east of Mozartplatz, between Kaigasse and the river. There is a lot of history and interesting architecture over in this area... plus, this is where the seats of the Salzburg government and the city public affairs offices are located. Definitely worth a quick stroll through these streets.
Beer and Brat Fest
by TinKan
Give an Austrian a reason to party and he will. Give him a chance to sing and dance and he will entertain you. For the few days we were there it seemed that all the folks wanted to do was party and as good guests we partied right along with them. The food and the beer were great. Try some of the rot brat and cold beer to get you in the mood to dance with the locals.
