Anif`s best !

When I first stayed at the "Hotel Friesacher" it was a rather simple inn,(in Austria called "Gasthof") in the village of Anif, some 2 kms out of Salzburgs city limits and about 6 kms from the city center. In the course of years a bigger, modern retsurant was added and so were a disco, then another, more rustical restaurant and a "Heuriger" with excellent food and service, Soon the old gasthof was again refurbished and another, modern hotel-wing and a pool added.
Now the "Friesacher" is one of Salzburgs top hotels and a haven for everyone who loves the more serene mountain-scenery and likes to listen to the bells of the cattle, still to be heard in Anif.
Many celebrities made Anif their home, like the late Herbert von Karajan and other artists.
The hotel offers various room-types, from standard to large apartements, two-tiered studios (beware, because the upper level gets extremely hot in summer) and very good service and excellent food, to be savored also in a beautiful al-fresco garden.

Elegant Hotel outside Salzburg

I don't know if the Hotel Friesacher has anything to do with that infamous Formula 1 driver but I do know that I had a great stay here. The hotel is located about 2km from the center of Salzburg. For under 90 Euro, I got a BIG, BIG room!! Apart from the huge bedroom, it came with a bath, separate WC, a big balcony and a closet room of sorts. Most of the furniture is made of solid wood and original furnishing details shape the character of the hotel. Ample parking space is available for guests in their basement, which is convenient especially when it's raining. Plus I must comment on the big, big breakfast I got together with the price of the room
