Good location

We stayed in room 226. Located in the second floor (smoking). Very big room and very big bathroom. One double bed and one more opened for the 3rd person, leaving space for one closet, two armchairs and one small table. Had two windows with view in a side street. Very well located, just one block from the main bridge to the old town. Clean and in quiet neighbour.

Also room 331 and 333 in the 3rd floor were very nice.

Two restaurants are in the lobby, staying open till 23:00. Very nice breakfast.

But the gem of this hotel is Mrs Louisa in the reception. We asked her recommendation for a restaurant and she recommended three. Very-very helpful!!

Be prepared to be waked up at 07:00 from the church bells!! I considered it wonderful as i was in Salzburg for sightseeing and not for sleeping!!

Strange But Ideally Located

This is a rather strange hotel. Although it's 4* rated, the accommodation is definitely not what I'd expect from a 4* property. My single room was very basic but having said that, it was a perfectly adequate base for a city break holiday. There was a comfortable single bed, a table and chairs and an easy chair. The wardrobe had hanging space but no shelves and also contained a safe large enough to accommodate my laptop. (Although I'd e-mailed in advance and been told the rooms didn't have WiFi connectivity, I immediately spotted a router in the corridor and was able to use a T-mobile Hot Spot throughout my stay, for a relatively reasonable charge to my credit card.) There was no minibar or coffee-making facilities and hardly any hotel information in the pack, e.g. phone numbers to ring for wake-up calls, reception or room service (if there was any). There was a handy lobby area just inside the door, with coat hooks and a place for a suitcase. The bathroom was very nice - all white and fully tiled, with a full-sized bath and shower above it, a hairdrier, make-up mirror and adequate shelving. Outside the rooms, the corridors were hideously depressing but down on the ground floor was completely different. The reception area was bright and comfortable and the staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The hotel also has a very good restaurant, open all day and late into the evening. In all, it's a good place to stay but would benefit so much from a décor make-over to the accommodation areas.

Unique Quality: This hotel is in an ideal location, in a pedestrianised shopping street and just a few minutes' walk across the bridge to the Altstadt (Old Town). It's a 10-minute walk to the Mirabell Gardens and a further 10-minute walk to the Railway Station. Although I'm sure other hotels offer more comfortable accommodation, I would stay here again for the convenience. I also got a very good price at 72 euros a night, including breakfast.
