Probably Salzburg best Restaurant

We didn't stay here but we had dinner at the Restaurant, normally I don't like to eat in the same restaurant twice when traveling trying to taste different places and taste, but the restaurant was cozy and what I imagined to be old Austrian, and we had the best dinners (we ate there twice) in the 10 days we spent in Salzburg. If you stay here because it's in the old part of Salzburg, don't forget to eat there. We had Dear carpaccio and Salzburger Nocker (Huge meringue and berry dessert) our first day, and our last night in Salzburg we had the duck breast and the ree ragu (probably the best stew i have had in my life).

great location,no problems

we have just stayed at this lovely old hotel, situated right in the center of the old town.yes of course the rooms are on the small side ,the hotel is centuries old!! the staff are extremely friendly the restaurant below is superb, its clean ,not too expensive october 2007 we paid105 euros.
the best thing about the place is its location,i wouldnt consider staying on the other side of the river.
If you want to get the feel Mozart had stay here ,but remember there were no swimming pools saunas gyms in those days.well recommended
suffice to say i will and hope we can stay here again.
stairs could be a problem to less agile persons ,there is a small lift but the old stone stairs are charming but narrow, absolutely no problems to us 54 and 52 .

Unique Quality: in charming olde world thoughfare,as close to Mozart as you can get.the church bells ringing through the night great atmosphere

Central and nice!

My girlfriend and I stayed at this hotel 2 weeks ago. Everything was very nice. The rooms are not huge (as some already said), but they are big enough for a couple. I don't think they're smaller than other hotel rooms that we've been to, anyway... Our room even had a wooden table and chair, as well as a wooden bench.

The hotel staff was very nice and helpful, and breakfast was very good.
The the room cleaning was excellent.

The restaurant of the hotel, on the ground flooor, is a must. Its a cosy place, where you can eat a delicious meal (we recommend the roasted duck
breast) and enjoy a beer (you must try the Franciscaner Dunkel).

Old town hotel

Location, location, location.
Right in the centre of the Altstadt (old town). Wake up to the sound of church bells every morning.
This is a very old hotel which has been renovated recently and we had a room on the top floor with a 4 poster bed, large TV inc Sat, shower room and even a small table. It really was an excellent room, considering it is in such a central location.
Ulrike and her staff did everything possible to help with advice and suggestions.
The restaurant on the ground floor is typical of Salzburg with vaulted ceilings and superb Austrian cuisine.
Check out the web site for more info. http://www.ente.at

Unique Quality: The central location means that everything in Salzburg is literally within a few minutes walk.
Cathedral, Fortress, river, numerous museums and churches.

Beware of "annnexes"

This is probably a fine hotel, but our experience was less than satisfying. It was our first encounter with being housed in a hotel "annex." This one was an old building in need of renovation next door to the hotel. The room was not dirty but it was not very appealing and the entry stairs were dingy and poorly lighted. We had reservations but were told that some guests had extended their stay and the annex was the only space available. I have since learned not to accept "annex" accommodations.

Unique Quality: The hotel is very conviently located in the center of old Salzburg. We did not try the restaurant, but it is highly recommended.

Nice place and good food

This hotel is on a nice little street (and I do mean little) right in the center of the old city that is perfect.

Every effort is made to provide an American style breakfast but remember that you get to cook your own eggs and bacon.

This hotel is recommended by Rick Steves and we just missed his trip there by a week or two. He was going to stay there with his family just after we had left.

Unique Quality: The rooms are small but the hotel is in a great location and the price is so right.

If you must be in the center of town.

If you absolutely must be in the center of town and aren't particular about your room, then Zur Goldenen Ente is the place for you. The rooms are very plain, but the restaurant was pretty good, even if the owner is a bit of a cold fish.
$87.00

Unique Quality: The restaurant downstairs is cozy and the breakfast buffet was pretty good.

NOTE: If you are going to stay there and have a car, get instructions for getting to the garage area prior to trying to drive there.
