The salzburg card
by Chaucey
The best money saving advice I have is to buy a Salzburg card.
They allow free entry into the major tourist sites in the city, and also free travel on the public transport.
Buy one as soon as you arrive!
There is more information at www.europeancitycards.com
Sadly we didn't get them and we regretted it - we would have saved a lot of money if we had one.

Start from the Hohensalzburg castle, called Festung (fortress) in the area. Standing up there you can see the whole city lying down there in the plain. I enjoyed every minute of the trip, starting from the casle we walked in and around the city until late evening. churches and old buildings, mozart's house, beautiful Gardens, coffee houses and stores. everything was amazing
The Salzburg Pass is the best.
by TinKan
The Salzburg Pass is the best value for money that we have found in any tourist town anywhere in the world.
This pass will get you into most if not all tourist places and on all the public transport in and around Salzburg.
The cost for a one-day pass is 18.00 euros and the 24 hours starts from the time you first use it. If you plan your day right you can see everything.
One tip... it said it is good for one admission but I found it worked for the public transport all the time and for the tram to Festung Hohensalzburg (fortress) both up the hill and down. I love the nightlife and the food here.
There are some things that just cannot be made anywhere else but here.
Cafe Glockenspiel and Salzburger Nockerl
by globetrott
It is one of the biggest cafes in Salzburg and has a great garden-restaurant "Salzburger Nockerl" is a special dessert, similar to a soufflé - it simply consists of eggs, sugar and just a small portion of flour - mostly it is served for a minimum of 2 persons
.
It is not easy to prepare it and so not many restaurants outside of Salzburg will serve it
A city of art
by german_eagle
This picture should be proof enough for the fact that Salzburg is a good location for modern art as well as traditional sorts of art.
It's a figure standing on a golden globe. I didn't really get the meaning and I wasn't the only one judging from the comment of bystanders. Quite an interesting contrast to the old buildings around this work of art. It's to find just south of the cathedral. Don't know if for long, though :-)
