Good company

I was fortunate to be able to meet VT superstar, globetrott (aka, Michael) in Salzburg. Michael was a great guide and the two of us had a great time exploring the town together. Incidentally, he's a sneaky picture taker and a I've never seen anyone who loves cheese so much, but mostly he's just a very nice guy.
Michael's kindness did not end in Salzburg. he generously drove me to the lake district east of Salzburg where we toured a few more towns and enjoyed some more good times.

......I looked grudging there...look at my eyebrows !....Couldn't remember why I was not smiling....
Maybe I was thinking that it's only my 3rd day in Europe & I had 5 more weeks to go around these places :
Slovakia
Poland
Germany
Czech Republic
Hungary.
..Anyway, don't pay any attention to me on the photo...look at that Salzburg views below (behind me on the photo...)....taken from the Hohensalzburg Fortress at the top of the hill...
Wine

We are not big drinkers, but found ourselves drinking the local Austrian red wines a lot. They apparently do not put sulfates (a preservative) in their wine as we do in the U.S. This results in lower occurrences of hangovers as we found out. The wine is not exceptional, but it is good, plentiful and relatively cheap.

Always tip when you pay the server for your meal; don't leave the money on the table. There's no 'percentage rule'- just round to the nearest convenient Euro increment (Give 6.50 for a 6.10 meal, for example) and it's fine.
