Enjoyed our stay!

My husband and I recently spent a total of 10 nights in four different Marriott properties in Germany and Austria. We spent two nights in this one. We loved the hotel and found the staff to be unusually helpful. Our room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is not, however, in a particularly great neighborhood---not scary or dangerous, I don't think, but maybe a little seedy. Also, it is a good 15-minute walk from the old town area of Salzburg. My husband and I loved this, because we always walk as much as we can when we travel, but for others this might be a problem. We would definitely stay here again, though.

Excellent hotel in convenient location!

Stayed 6 nights with my fiance at the Renaissance Hotel 2-8th Jan 2006. We got an extremely good deal on Yeego.com and paid 328 euros for room and breakfast.

Room: Airy, quiet, spacious double bedroom with shower over bath ensuite. View over the back of hotel onto residential road. Good standard of cleanliness. Warm. Furnishings were modern and in good condition. Only downside was the lack of tea/coffee making facilities.

Communal areas: good state of repair, modern and clean. There is a swimming pool and fitness centre on the 1st floor.

Breakfast: a fantastic array of cold and hot food - continental and american style. Certainly were not stuck for variety or choice over our 6 days! Coffee is served by polite and helpful waiting staff.

Staff: very friendly and helpful

Location: this hotel is ideally placed for the train and bus station (2-3mins walk at most). The old town is about 25mins easy walk away and the walk was a safe one at night. The only negative point was the lack of restaurants close to the hotel. There is a very good italian across the road (in the cinema complex which also has chinese and pizza place) but that is it apart from a few dodgy looking kebab shops!

Salzburg is a great place. Extremely picturesque in the snow. As previous reviewers have commented, the snow shuttle is a great way to investigate the surrounding countryside wihout hiring a car. We had a lovely day at Kitzbuhel.

A word of warning for those spoilt by 24 hour shopping and amenities - supermarkets are rarely open longer than 7pm in the week, virtually all shops shut at 5pm on a Saturday and nothing is open on a Sunday.

I would definitely visit this hotel again and would highly recommend it for those visiting Salzburg.

An excellent stay at the Renaissance.

Firstly we couldnt compliment the staff more. From check-in to recommending restaraunts, helping book the snowshuttle and arranging taxis the staff were excellent.

The hotel itself is pretty much all you could want and we got an excellent deal on yeego. The room is a good size with a lovely bed exactly as it is pictured on the website (which is quite rare!), there is an armchair, coffee table, desktype area, double wardrobe, cupboards and bedside tables. The bathroom is clean and bright and the shower/bath more than adequate. The view from our window was just looking out at the rest of the hotel but we didnt stay there to look out of the window so it didnt matter. The only downside is no tea and coffee in the room but that's probably an English thing!

Breakfast is fantastic with juice, cereals, breads, eggs, bacon, waffles, tea, coffee...anything you could want. This restaraunt was closed in the evening which we werent expecting but the other bar/restaraunt was open so it didnt really matter.

The pool/fitness centre is very clean and there is a very nice steam and sauna room...our only complaint would be that the pool was quite chilly which meant more than a few minutes wasnt good on a cold day.

Didnt spend much time in the immediate area as you are situated out of the city centre but you can go to the complex over the road if you dont want to travel in the evening or the bus/train station is only 3 minutes walk. We got taxis into the old town in the evening as it was too cold to walk and the hotel arranged this within minutes. To walk it takes approx 25 minutes go via the Mirabell Gardens which is very pretty. If you go in the winter (daytime temp was -1, evening -9) and intend to walk about make sure you dress properly...although we wore thick jackets and jumpers our legs in jeans were icy after half an hour so pack your thermals!

In the old town get dropped off at the Rathaus and stroll along the next road in to find shops and restaraunts. Bars are along the main road by the river which the rathaus is on. For the daytime check out the fort and take a wander round to the Mozart Statue. As everyone says everywhere is shut on Sunday and we chose this day to go on the Snowshuttle (book in advance through your hotel) to Zell Am See. As non-skiers we still found enough to do, walking on the frozen lake, catching a cable car up to the skiers restaraunt approx 800m up (£10 each), ice-skating in the afternoon(£6 each). Well worth the £8 each it costs to get the coach there and amazingly picturesque...in February it was a real winter wonderland.

Salzburg is beautiful in the winter and I imagine equally lovely in the summer and the Renaissance is a perfect place to experience it from.

it was a must important stay in Austria i ever had.

My wife and I travelled to Austria for skiing.

The hotel stuff was very friendly and help us to organize all trips and sightseeing tours.

An perfect stay at the Renaissance.

Rate - just like other reviewers we book from yeego and received total 3 nights for eur 168 (two persons and breakfast include). What a bargain for 4 Star hotel like this and you only pay with average eur 56 per night. This is even better rate compare to most hostel like in Europe.

Location - 2 mins walk from Salzburg Main Train station, very easy. From hotel you can walk to the main area abt 20mins or take the bus from Main Train station. There is a shopping complex just cross the hotel with few restraurants, shops and a moview theater if you feel to stay in the area during the night. There is a self-loundry (call bubble point) just across street from the hotel and ard the corner. If you hv long journey like we do, it will Save you a lot of money compare to hotel price.

Room - a perfect 4 star room with lots of space. Good bed and the armchair, coffee table, desktype area, double wardrobe, cupboards and bedside tables. There is a Wireless service in the room with ok cost.
The bathroom is clean and bright and the shower/bath more than adequate.

The pool/fitness centre is very clean and there is a very nice steam and sauna room. only complain was pool may be too small.

Staff - we couldnt compliment the staff more. staff were excellent.

Compare what i see from the internet pic abt Crown Plaza and Sheraton hotel (they are also locate in the middle btw Renaissance and main town), you received nicer and muchmodern room in Renaissance. With unbeatable price and the high standard service received I would definitely visit this hotel again and would highly recommend it for those visiting Salzburg.
