Stadtkrug Hotel

I found this place quite by accident when I went to a hotel across the street and they were full but sent me over here. The front desk manager was extremely helpful and even called ahead to various places i was going to go to find out their hours and prices. There is a small bar - maybe twenty people max - which was a great place to unwind at the end of the day. A piano player came in on Friday night and played for many hours and after he finished the bartender plugged in his Ipod and poured drinks until sunrise. There is a fine restaurant in the building with a wide range of authentic Austrian food and excellent wine and service. Everything you need is right here.

Unique Quality: The building is over 700 years old and located in the Old Town area. You can easily walk to anywhere within ten minutes. The room sizes are adequate and the attached bathroom was very decent indeed. High ceilings with exposed wood beams provide a very nice atmosphere. The staff could not be more friendly or do enough for you.

We stayed three nights here and for the most part were happy with our stay..
The bad points are;
Our room had bad stains on the floor, and furniture. The room was clean, but just run down. We didn't like where they kept the keys to our room. It was on a board next to the desk. Many times we would come in with no one at the desk and we just picked up our key and proceed upstairs. It seemed that everyone got their own keys with out supervision. The restaurant was ok but nothing special. They had a little courtyard in the back which was very nice and a great place to eat.
The help were very friendly and helpful. we would go back since it was a little less money than other places but still very expensive.

Unique Quality: nice view in the back, our room looked across to windows of apartments. A nice thing about the location was you were close to the tourist sites, such as Mozarts house, Palace, and famous Marionette show.
