Delicious!

Best breakfast brunch I’ve had in my life. All the food was BIO and well-prepared. They also treat you to afternoon coffee and late afternoon latté. Ein hübsches Mädchen, das Christine genannt wurde, war an der Aufnahme sehr freundlich. The room was bigger than I thought it would be with a wide screen LCD, DVD player and mini fridge.

The only major problem was zero ventilation to rid yourself of unwanted washroom odors! Also, the staff and some guests smoked around the internet access area. It was supposed to be a smoke-free hotel.

* I went with my father who is 83 and requires the use of a walker for longer distances. Handicap Friendly in Altstadthotel part of hotel (lift).

The Wolf-Dietrich Hotel

About $150 a night for a double, including breakfast.

Unique Quality: This is a family-run hotel with about 30 rooms and a very nice atmosphere. It is named after the Archbishop Wolf Dietrich, who basically ruled Salzburg in the late 1500's and is responsible for much of its architecture. The back of the hotel looks out on the cemetery of St. Sebastian's church, including the mausoleum of Wolf Dietrich. (Mozart's father and wife are buried in the cemetery.) The hotel has a nice restaurant (recently converted to an organic restaurant and very good) and a good breakfast. All the rooms have video players and you can borrow videos (including a few in English) from a collection of loaners. There's also an indoor pool! The people at the hotel are very good to help with tours, concert tickets etc.

A hotel right in the middle of town

A bit on the pricer side, but that is compensated by the location (A minute from Mozartplatz)

Unique Quality: Its location of course. Having said that there is nothing wrong with the atmosphere eighter.

The only creditcard they accept is American Express.

More about The Wolf-Dietrich Hotel

Lovely stay at the Hotel Wolf-Dietrich

by TripAdvisor Member ANASTAZIA

The Hotel Wolf-Dietrich is in an excellent location in the old city of Salzburg. There are two parts to the Hotel, the Residence and the Hotel. The Residence is across the road from the Hotel. We booked the Romantic Suite Gallery which is a beautiful two story suite on the 4th floor of the Residence. It had a beautiful loft bedroom with an ensuit bathroom which you accessed via a spiral staircase. Downstairs was a large living room with a separate bathroom and toilet. The Hotel has a number of DVDs which you can access during your stay. The Romantic Suite overlooks the roof tops of Old Salzburg. The staff were extremely helpful and spoke excellent English. Breakfast was typically Austrian with lots of pastries and cold meats. A little more fresh fruit and eggs however would have been great.
The Hotel has a pool and sauna located below ground.
We would happily stay in the Romantic Suite Gallery if we were in Salzburg again. Note though the Residence does not have a lift so you need to walk up and down the stairs each day to access your room - good exercise though to burn up the yummy Austrian food!

The Excellant Wolf Dietrich

by A TripAdvisor Member

We stayed at the Wolf Dietrich in June 2005.The hotel is in an excellent position 5 minutes walk from the river in the centre of Salzburg.
The hotel is very clean, with friendly staff and the interior is finished to a very high standard.
I would strongly reccomend this hotel to anyone who wants a nice central location for the city, but at the same time peace and quiet to have a relaxing stay.
We had an excellent time both in beautiful Salzburg and at the Wolf Dietrich

Great location - Great hotel

by TripAdvisor Member DonalOS

Picking a city hotel to suit a family with small children (ours are aged 7 and 5) is hard work . . . but we hit the jackpot with the Wolf Dietrich.

We spent 7 nights in a family room in the Residenz (the annex across the street from main hotel) in August, and it was a real success. The room was large, comfortable, and had a separate bedroom for children. Ours was a first floor room, so the lack of an elevator was no problem.

While the Wolf Dietrich styles itself as a boutique hotel, I would have to say the atmosphere is more akin to a friendly family-oriented hotel :- The staff in the reception were exceptionally helpful, offering advice to us on our daily excusions.

They seem to have hit on a winning formula :-

* Superb location (5 mins walk from Old Town . . . Salzburg has so much to offer, even for young children)
* Comfortable rooms
* Good food :- The organic "bio" continental-style breakfast was superb
* Loan of DVDs in reception (we had several very wet days, so this helped keep the kids occupied)
* Internet access
* Extremely friendly & helpful staff

My wife and I stayed here June 2005. The hotel is fantastic, the staff excellent and the kindness and helpfulness is everywhere. What a place to relax in and be well fed; try the quirky romantic Magic Flute Room - we loved it, and we aren't kids any more!

When you want to go out, turn the corner and you are into a pedestrian street and then the old town. A great, great hotel and a great city. Not to be missed!

romantic journey

by A TripAdvisor Member

We would like to let you know how satisfied we have been by our journey in your hotel.

Congratulations to all the staff for your kindness, your lovely reception , the nice disponibility of everybody and the so romantic organization of our journey in Salzburg.
We stayed in a Romantic suite and enjoyed a champagne breakfast at the bedside.
We have been very receptiv to the romantic decoration of the room and of our table for the candlelight dinner!

All was just PERFECT and will remain an unforgettable souvenir for us.

We already decided to stay again in this lovely room/hotel in the future just to enjoy the quiet and romantic atmosphere.
