Bus from Zell am See to Grossglockner

by victorwkf

Anyone of you have taken the bus (operated by OBB Postbus) from the town of Zell am See to Grossglockner Frank Joseph Hohe (to view the snow mountains) and back?

My wife and I will be taking this bus on the morning of 7th june 2007, and is wondering whether we need to reserve any seats beforehand? This is because it is a once-a-day bus and we are afraid that it might be fully booked when we get there. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Regards
Victor

Hi Jason

Just to check, which month did you take the bus and roughly how much does a return trip cost?

I have emailed to the bus company, and they said there are no reservations on their buses and we just have to be early at the bus stop.

Regards
Victor

I was there in September. I vaguely remember that the return ticket costed around 15 euros (could be wrong).

I actually got there 5 minutes before the bus was leaving.

Thanks a lot for your advice!

My wife and I successfully visited Zell Am See and Grossglockner, and really enjoyed both places a lot! I have just built the VT pages on Zell Am See and Grossglockner, do drop by and have a look if you are interested. Once again, thanks!

Dont miss the vintage-car-museum in Kaprun

by globetrott

Vötter's Fahrzeugmuseum Kaprun is an interesting carmuseum inside the hotel Sport-Kristall. The museum shows about 150 cars and every small bit of the museum is crammed with a car. You will find a lot of cars that you remember from a long time ago, these are are not "shining" like in other museums, but they rather look like to be in a private garage, waiting to be repaired or so.
I really enjoyed this place, it is just a pity that some of the most precious cars you almost cannot take a photo of, because they are hidden behind many other cars.
The museum is open daily
10.00am - 06.00pm
It is not easy to find this museum, except that you drive through the village of Kaprun in direction to the castle and stop at the Hotel Sport-Kristall, that also has an ancient train of the emperor standing in its frontyard.

Visibility does not allow for mountain views.

by dabidc

The sign shows the direction of hikes in the area and the expected time to complete the hike.

The sign also shows a little of the low level cloud that obscured views of the mountain peaks to the south especially.

So it is down all the way to Zell.
