If you are staying at Hotel Berner, the price of the stay will include breakfast and dinner as well as the afternoon cakes and drinks, so almost all meals are covered. The meals at Hotel Berner are good and the ambience is very nice with all the beautiful Austrian furnitures and setting. The breakfast consists of a choice of breads, cheese, hams etc as well as cornflakes, milk, juices etc. The dinner menu is different everyday, and the dishes range from fish, chicken, pork etc. Afternoon cakes are also very nice, with coffee or tea.

One of my fondest memories of Zell Am See is the breathtaking views of the town, lake and surrounding mountains from the balcony of my hotel room at Berner Hotel (see website below and my accomodation tips at this VT page). My wife and I stayed at a room facing the lake and had a wonderful time there, I would recommend Hotel Berner to anyone planning to visit and stay at Zell Am See.

One of the nice things about Hotel Berner is the colourful and very detailed traditional Austrian architecture and furnitures as you can see from the photographs. The staff are very friendly and they will give you a lot of good information. Also, there are lots of useful brochures on Zell Am See, Schmittenhohe (the mountain next to Zell Am See) and other major attractions around the area such as Kitzsteinhorn mountain, Krimml waterfalls, Grossglockner alpine road etc. The schedule of the Postbus to various locations from Zell Am See are also available at the hotel lobby.

Hotel Berner (Part 2)

These photographs show my room at the hotel, which essentially is a suite facing the lake (Zeller See) with good views at the balcony (see photo). The room is good, clean, comfortable and has all the standard room facilities including a safe for you to keep your important stuff.
The suite cost about $135 euros per night for 2 persons, and the room rates change depending on high or low season (high season would be winter and summer). Please see the hotel website below for the rates, and you can use internet to make reservations and ask the hotel questions (the hotel staff are very friendly and will respond to your email quickly).

As for the location of the hotel at Zell Am See, it is located along Mozartstrasse and Ebenbergstrasse, just walk along the main road called Brucker Bundestrasse and turn left into Mozartstrasse just after the police station and tourist information centre.

Hotel Berner (Part 1)

Hotel Berner is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed, and my wife and I truely enjoyed our stay there in June 2007. Why is it so good? Well, the hotel itself is located on the upper slope of Zell Am See offering great views of the town, lake and mountains if your room is facing the lake. The hotel lobby, dinning area, room etc are very beautifully decorated and clean. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and the food there is very delicious. The swimming pool there is also very nice, which is open throughout all seasons (including winter where the water is heated).

The hotel offers various rooms (including suites), some facing the lake (Zeller See) while others facing the Schmittenhohe mountain. Generally, rooms with good views of the lake will be more expensive. The hotel is also very near to the City Express (Kabinenseilbahn) ski lifts and Ebenbergbahn (Sessellift) ski lifts. Please see part 2 of this tip for more information.
