Best to reserve online.

You can buy train tickets even a minute before the train leaves. But you'll have to hurry then. In that case I'd suggest buying them on the day you arrive. Assuming you arrive either by train or by plane you will probably be passing through the main railway station, so just buy them then. Depending on the class of train you take your ticket will cost you between 37,50 and 49,90.
There is a special for 29,- you can still buy online. This is a ticket you print out yourself, so you can just head over to www.bahn.de, select Englisch and buy your ticket.

If you book your ticket online, register first. You can start the process of booking and will be asked to register later, but from my experience this is when the site crashes and you can start all over again. This not only happened to me, but to several other people as well.
So register first, get your password and then start booking your ticket.

Your print-out is the ticket, no need to exchange it to another ticket at the train station.

Important: When checked in the train, you have to show the very same credit card which you used for booking. You can book for others as well, as long as you are part of the group.

the interior of St. Hippolyt church

by globetrott

Dont miss to take a look inside the interesting, old St Hippolyt Parish Church of Zell am See. The interior is an interesting mixture of gothic and baroque styles and some early roman frescos on the ceiling. You can enter this church freely and without restictions during the day, in summer it is also a really nice place to cool down a bit inside on a hot day.

Vespa World Days 2009

by SandiMandi

During our stay in Salzburg we made a day trip to Zell Am See as we had heard about a big vespa meeting taking place there. As my boyfriend drives a vespa himself and we had the scooter with us on our road trip, he sure didn't want to miss this event. When we arrived in Zell Am See we were greeted by thousands of vespas! The event was the biggest vespa meeting in Europe, Vespa World Days 2009. The small town was full of vespa scooters, their drivers and other vespa enthusiasts, so we fit in just fine!

Zell Am See seemed to be a nice little alpine village, though we didn't really see much as we concentrated on the event. But the small lake was beautiful and the alps surrounding the town were spectacular. So what an amazing setting for this meeting!
