The Ultimate Gateway to Ski Amadé
"Traditional Town with Young Spirit"
After I visited Schladming for the very first time, I instantly knew that it is exactly THE place to spent at least couple of winter days each and every year. As for me, this charming town of merely 5,000 inhabitants seemingly has it all - awesome ski slopes, gemütlich services at reasonable prices, great location with simple car accessibility, and plentiful après ski options.
"Alpine Top 5 Ski Resort"
Schladming is located in the Upper Styria (Obersteiermark), just some 300 km from Vienna and 90 km from Salzburg, directly on the B320 road. Besides its centuries-long mining history, the town's largest attraction is the 4-peak ski resort with its center at Planai, part of the Dachstein-Tauern region. These 4 peaks amount to 115 km of ski slopes and stand for Planai, Hochwurzen, Reiteralm, and Hauser-Kaibling. Due to Ski Amadé ski passes, one can ski not only at the aforementioned four peaks, but also in all the neighboring Ski Amadé resorts, which opens up a total of 860 km of slopes.
"2 Great Sites to Bookmark"
There are two valuable Web sites, which I learned are always a great source of information about Schladming and the Ski Amadé resorts within the Dachstein-Tauern region: www.schladming-dachstein.at & www.skiamade.com . While the first site is available in German and English, the latter provides its visitors with infos in 8 different languages. Everything one reads is up-to-date, clear, and interesting for both Schladming rookies and the Stammgäste. I believe the most vital stuff includes packages offers, events news, or current weather and snow conditions updates. Interactive maps make it easier to plan ahead and consequently enjoy Schladming more intensively once arriving there.
