Gepatschhaus: One of the oldest Alpine Club lodges
The Alpenverein (Alpine Club) holds a perfect network of lodges in all regions of the Austrian Alps. Normally you can reach from any of these lodges at least one other in about half a days hike/climb or less so these form perfect bases for all activities. The Gepatschhaus is among the oldest ones in Austria. It is nicely situated between the uppermost trees at about 2000 m above sea level at the end of the Kaunertal. It is open most of the year, offering a basic accommodation and a reasonable menu.
