Arlberg Hospiz*****: a posh hotel in special surroundings

Hospiz Hotel in St. Christoph am Arlberg is a 5star-luxury-hotel on top of the pass-road over the Arlberg. In the older times, when merchants were taking their goods over the pass-road by oxen or horses this "hopsiz" was a place to relax, spend the night, find shelter in nasty weather ect. Step by step and with mass tourism it was transfered into a luxury hotel, that saw celebrities like royal families from Great Britain, Netherlands etc.
When booking a hotel at the Arlberg : Be aware that ever year it might happen that the road is totally closed for several days and even helicopters will have no chance at all to fly you in or out !!
For celebrities this does not matter, for the "working-class" it might be a desaster, when you have to be back on the job in time !!!

Innsbruck: The Hilton: The Hilton of today once used to be a Holidayy Inn

The Hilton Hotel in Innsbruck is the same building, where I was working in 1979 at the reception, but back then it was a Holiday Inn and today it belongs to the Hilton-hotels.

The building is quite high, and it was one of the first such buildings in Austria, that had 2 completely seperated towers outside of the building, ment to be used to run down the stairs in case of a fire or other emergency.
Next to the Hilton you will find a modern Casino - you can see it on my picture !
Celebrities who stayed in that hotel, while I was working there :
"Smokie" - including a bunch of teenies running after them -
Milva - Sir Peter Ustinov...

Hotel Stern: Best Western in Imst

The family Krismer manages this 4* hotel with spacious and comfortable rooms or appartments. The restaurant offers Austrian specialities and international cuisine. On the 3rd floor you could relax after a good skiing day in the panoramic sauna or in the Turkish steam bath. Watch out for Waldi the family dog!

Imst was my base camp for the ski safari week. Located at reasonnable distance from main Tyrolean skiing areas (reacheable in less than 45 min) as Serfaus, Ischgl or Sölden...

Do not miss the evening in their mountain hut to appreciate the hunter's meal and the famous William's liquor...

We came to innsbruck on our way from Bavaria to Italy and we stayed in this place.

The owner is a very nice person , the room we got was BIG , and the breakfast was very good.

It wasnt too much expensive , great location - very quiet and friendly.

The bed was BIG and a very quiet location.
