INNSBRUCK AUSTRIA
by LoriPori
The Capital city of the Federal district of Tyrol in Western Austria, INNSBRUCK is located in the Inn Valley at the junction with the Wipptal River, which provides access to the Brenner Pass (30 km south of Innsbruck).
Located in a broad valley between high mountains - the Nordkette in the North - Patscherkofel and Serles in the south. Innsbruck is an internationally renowned winter sports center and hosted the 1964 and 1976 winter Olympics.
The Golden Roof or Goldenes Dachl and Maria-Theresien -Strasse. the Main Street, are must see areas of the city.
I had the opportunity to visit Innsbruck twice, In 1968 and in July of 1986 with our children. (I write about this trip in my "Europe" pages.)

Hofgarten.
by Maurizioago
This park was originally founded as a hunting ground. Later it was declared a public garden. There are various plants and a small lake here. At one of the entrances of the park there is a cafe-restaurant.
The Hofgarten is open from 9 a. m. to sunset. It is located very near the Imperial Palace.
The City tower
by sim1
We are in the Altstadt now. One thing you certainly have to do is climb the tower. Yes... I know!!! A lot of steps up the tower to get to the top! Yes, hahaha, I admit it : I was exhausted by the time I reached the top. But the view from here is really great. When you take a look at the next view pictures, you know what you will be missing if you are too lazy to climb it :-))
The tower was built 1442-1450. This magnificent tower has a 16th century bulbous cupola. In former times the Tower housed a prison cell.
The Tower offers stunning views over Innsbruck’s roofs and the surrounding Alpine scenery.
Opening times: Daily from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
In July/August/September: 10:00 am – 8:00 pm

The Altstadt is only a small area, but there is enough to look at. you won't be bored here, all those paintings, history, signs, etc. are wonderful to see.
