Airport tax free shop

by karen_mo

Hi Does anyone know if there is a good sized "tax" free shop at the airport in Innsbruck? I may get some Clarins perfume on the way home, if the price is reasonable. I've no idea how big the airport is.

many thanks, Karen

Yes there is a duty free shop: http://www.innsbruck-airport.com/index.html/_a/346694/_sa/346870/_lang/de

Mind that for travel wholly within the EU you cannot buy any goods tax-free but only goods with tax included.

thanks! Yep and was hoping I'd still find a discount even though not strictly "tax" free. As it was, they didn't have what I wanted! Never mind! What a lovely view flying in to Innsbruck though, wow!!

Travel Tips for Innsbruck

Innsbruck Card

by brazwhazz

If you are going to Innsbruck for a short stay (3 days or less), consider purchasing an Innsbruck Card! You will be glad you did.

It looks and feels like a credit card: simply slip it everywhere you go, as it gives you one free entry to pretty much every attraction.. Also, all public transportation is free. After I bought this card, my only expenses in Innsbruck were my hotel, my meals... and, of course, my souvenirs.

The card also offers a discount on the entry to the nearby Swarovski Crystal Worlds (in Wattens). What I most enjoyed in Innsbruck were the mountains, whether it was watching them from the city or going up the Seegrube and Hafelekar. Nothing beats walking around in the clouds!

Incidentally, this is where the Innsbruck Card came most handy: a funicular and cable-car ride up to the Hafelekar costs over 20 euros, which is about the same as the card for 24 hours.

Go to the alpine zoo - it is a bit of a trek (i didn't realise they meant it was on a mountain!) but it is lovely to watch bears froliking whilst in the background is the most stunning veiws you could ever want The views of the mountains and the river from the bridge are amazing - i could have spent hours just drinking it in.

Leopoldsbrunnen

The guidebooks say that it is one of the oldest statues of riders in the region. It was built in 1618-1632. The statue shows Duke Leopold V among diferent gods. It is a fountain but of course in winter times it didn't work and I didn't see it while I was in the city.

If you are a music fan, don't forget to drop into a music store and buy some CD's you won't find back home. I am a pop music fan, so when in Austria I picked up two CD's. One by a female artist: KOSHEEN and one by a group called BRO'SIS. Perhaps an Austrian can tell me if they are still popular?
