University of Innsbruck - I

This is the main administration building of the University of Innsbruck. It's nice to know that American Univerisities don't have have a monopoly on dispiriting and demeaning architecture. The yellow window-shades are easily the best thing about it.

Although it was only a brief stop to have lunch on my way to Bolzano by car- the drive from Munich was great, and I remember having a wonderful Austrian pastry from a cafe in downtown Innsbruck while looking out the window with a spectacular view of the Austrian Alps.
A walk through the city

In this general category, I want to give an overview over what I have seen and done in Innsbruck. In the next categories, I want to highlight a view of these things.
I can't think of a better start to this page than with this lovely view over the river 'Inn'. This is the river that runs through Innsbruck, and which gave the city its name.
The name of the city comes from the combination of brücke, (German for „bridge“) and the name of the local river, the Inn. I found this a lovely view to the coloured houses on the other side of the river. Too bad it was such bad weather while I was here though.

A panoramic view of Innsbruck from the Patscherkofel Mountains.
Thanks to the winter Olympics of 1964 and again in 1976 (I think so!), this historic capital of the Tyrol is today one of the most picturesque and tourist-infested region.

Austria requires Toll stickers on all vehicles travelling on their motorways and highways. You can purchase these stickers from post offices and petrol stations or the Austrian Automobile Clubs. Neighbouring countries also sell these stickers. If you fail to provide this sticker, you will be fined.
