Weisses Kreuz

The Weisses Kreuze hotel is in the center of the old town section of Innsbruck, just a stones throw from the town tower and the Golden Dachl. The location is as perfect as you could ask for. You enter the hotel and there is an elevator at the back of a short hallway for you to use but the stairs will lead you to the front desk on the next level if you don't want to use the elevator.
I stayed in a basic single room with the shower and toilets separate. My room, #48, was a basic room with a double bed, television, a small desk with chair, a built-in closet and a sink behind a curtain. The room was small. It was in fact, the smallest room I had during my three weeks in Austria for this trip but I only spend time in hotel rooms to sleep, not live. The view from my window wasn't very inspiring but I could see the mountains above the rooftops.
Even though the room was small, I was expecting it to be (since I booked it without the toilet and shower en suite) and it was very adequate. The bed and the large pillow were comfortable and I couldn't hear much, if anything from the room next to me or anything in the hallway.
The toilets (two stalls and a sink) were located directly across from my room as was the elevator. The shower was down the hallway and was a single glass enclosed shower with good, strong water pressure in a decent sized room. I never had to wait for the shower or toilet rooms during my three days in the hotel.
The breakfast was the typical European cold meat, bread and spreads with hardboiled eggs and cereal available. The food was fresh and is a good way to fill yourself up for a busy day of sightseeing.
The staff I dealt with at the front desk were always helpful to me. They were able to point me in the right direction to different sights I had questions on how to get to and they can sell you stamps for postcards home. They will mail your postcards for you as well.
There is a computer with internet available near the front desk for 1 euro/10 min. (as of Oct. 2007) as well if it's neaded.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Innsbruck and look forward to staying here again in the future.

Simply the BEST!

Absoutely the nicest hotel we've stayed at during our trips to Europe. The staff was great, the buffet breakfast awesome, the rooms were nice and large and clean, the view perfect, and the location was exceptional.

Unique Quality: The hotel was old, yet modern and a perfect mix of the two.

So quaint

This was a great location and wonderful staff. They were so ready to accomodate us. They even arranged a sleigh ride for us in a little town, Seefold. The food was so good and the pasteries and coffee were wonderful. The rooms were small but had everything you need and lots of personality.

Unique Quality: I thought that the staff was so great and helpful.

Weisses Kreuz Hotel

The hotel is just in the old town area and when go into the streets, you go into od town square where Goldenes Dahl is situated, the most famous sight-seeing of the city. Another interesting fact about is Wolfgang Mozart, the famous composer, stayed here with his family when he was 10 years old. The hotel is very proud of this fact, it seems. I got a single room with wash-bowl (shared toilet on the floor) and I paid EUR 35 with breakfast. With own shower it is approximately twise more expansive.

so cheap !

I wonder how I paid so cheap, about 35 euros for bed and breakfast ; mozart slept in this hotel ; the reception desk is upstairs while the entrance door is downstairs, wide open; ah yes I understand, we are in austria ; in france, if you leave a hotel entrance door open more than 5 minutes, you will have dozens of cocaine dealers and beggars in the hall immediatly

Unique Quality: very simple and very clean room , the buffet at breakfast is unbelievable, I ate for 3 days, all kinds of cheese and delicious warm breads

A rather cheap hotel, where Mozart stayed in 1769

Hotel Weisses Kreuz is another one of the great hotels in the very centre of Innsbruck, in a distance of just 100 meters to the "Goldenes Dachl" and certainly a great place to stay in a typical Austria Hotel.
Check out their prices, they are rather low ! Simple singlerooms without private facilities are available already for 35 Euros, breakfast included !

Unique Quality: Take a look at this lovely facade, where you will also find a plate in order to commemorate the most famous guest who stayed in that hotel :
Leopold Mozart and his son Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (aged 13years)
were staying there in December 14th, 1769
when giving a concert for count Künigl

You may read more about Mozart's stay in that hotel & Innsbruck on the webpage below !

Best location & great value!

This 15th century hotel offers small, but great charming rooms characteristic of a very old hotel in Old Town Innsbruck. The room facing the cobblestone street, although can be noisy at times with the partiers below, is very romantic. There are lots of exposed timbers running along the ceiling and the uneven wooden floor adds to the charm. The front desk staff, located on the 2nd floor, are very helpful and knowledgeable of the area. The breakfast is continental breakfast served in a room on the ground floor is adequate to start your day (could use some soft background music while breakfast is being served).

Unique Quality: Great location and great price in Old Town Innsbruck. Their claim to fame is that Mozart and his father stayed here back in 1769 (ask the front desk which room they stayed in).

Historical land mark

Our stay here was very nice. It is located right inside the main town. It is very close to the Golden Roof. Other hotels, you have to walk to get inside the main street, but this one is right on it. They have a full bathroom, elevator and a breakfast buffet. It is a very old hotel and has a lot of history to it. It has been a hotel for over 500 years. It was one of the centers of resistance against Napoleon, and later still against the Nazis (giving shelter to Jewish refugees), and recently hosted Otto von Hapsburg, the Man Who Would Be Emperor, if his great-great uncle hadn't started and lost WWI. He chose to stay there because it was historic and a comfortable inn. While it still feels like an old inn, its 40 rooms are newly renovated an comfortable. The prices are: with no bathroom- Single-34-39 euros, Double 64-67 euros. With bathroom Single-57-61 euros, Small Double-84-91, Large Double-95-109 euros. I would DEFINATELY recommend this hotel to everyone.

Unique Quality: It is one of the historical sights in Innsbruck. It is very comfortable and quiet. It is located right in the center of the Main Street, very close to resturants, shops and histoical sites. They speak very good English and has a map of all the sites in Innsbruck in English.
