Innsbruck

We made a short trip to Innsbruck, stayed there only some hours. We walked in the old town, took a lot of pics of the beautiful houses, made a nice picnic in the sun (in november!!!!). Then we went to the Bergisel jumping stadion. We were so impressed, that we stayed there longtime and had no time to go to the Alpenzooand other attractions. Schloss Ambras was closed in november, unfortunately. What I liked best, is how snd where Innsbruck is situated: in the Inn valley, surrounded by the mountains covered by snow, the beautiful fall colours and the magnificant houses in the old town! And it looks so amazing when sun is shining!
Walking the streets

Although we did not get to spend much time in Innsbruck and it was raining, we did get to see some beautiful buildings and do some shopping in the local market.
Everyone we met was just so nice and helpful with directions to the local sites and shopping.. Be sure to go to the old center of town and see the market, the congress and the historic buildings found here.
The walking street is a nice area to just poke around in the shops there and (if ya know me) a nice place to sit and have coffee and watch the world go by.
The Old Town

Originally a Gothic town house, dating from the 15th century. In 1730, the facade was decorated with late-baroque stuccoes by artists from the Wessobrunner School. Now a residential and business building.
Another view down...

Another view down Herzog-Friedrich-Strasse, from the river end looking towards Goldnes Dachl. The galleries can be seen on the left hand side. The whole length of the street is lined with these galleries that contain a whole variety of shops from modern chain stores to old fashioned vendors.
So much to offer:...

Innsbruck has a lot to offer: The theatre next to the Hofgarten offers all kinds up to musicals, operette, opera, etc. The Hof offers a museum and also in the centre there are several museums, the Mayorshouse tower, The riverside, there is so much of it. So go to the Tourist info office and find out. Our day's there were to short to do all that. But it was very pleasant anyway !
