Hiking in October

by UNMONO

Hi there,

I may go to Innsbruck in October and would like to hike but I'm not sure if I can do it during the time. Could anyone give me some advice?

If the hiking service isn't avialable, what activity I should do? I'd like to appreciate the nature, not only the city.

And from Cesky Krumlov, how can I go to the city?

Thank you in advance.

This site offers good information on hiking paths:

If the weather is still good, October can be wonderful for hiking.

Hello!

Most lifts may be closed in October - except the glaciers (near Innsbruck: Stubaier Glacier).
Did you already check www.innsbruck.at ? This site gives you good information on what's on and what to do in and around Innsbruck. In October the weather can be a bit contrary - so please bring all-weather clothes.

Enjoy Innsbruck!

Thank you for the advice :)

One more thing. I have never hike before and I'll go alone (I'm a woman).
Is it safe to hike in Innsbruck alone?

Take the usual precautions, tell someone where you're planning to hike to and what time you expect to be back. And the most important: wear good shoes. If you're there in early October, there will be many other hikers, as late September and early October can see the best weather for hiking. But always be prepared for rain.Late October can be different, then the hiking season is over.

Travel Tips for Innsbruck

Make a fantastic jump!

Olympia Ski Jump

As you probably know Innsbruck was a guest town to the Olympic Games, somewhere in the seventies. The Olympic Ski Jump was held in Bergisel a small village south of Innsbruck. The views of Innsbruck standing on the Ski Jump Mountain is simply great. If you get up as high as possible, you have to respect the Ski Jumpers.

Walking Make Sightseeing Easy

by keeweechic

It is pretty easy to see most things in Innsbruck just by walking around the streets. I particularly loved the evenings and walking then and stopping at this little bar where the waiter was so old and so bent over and kept bringing everyone else's drink at our table but mine. I was afraid he would cark it before I got it.

Water

by mcsmiles77

I am not used to drinking carbonated water, but it's a very big thing in Europe I guess.
So if you don't want to end up with seltzer-type water, ask for "water without gas"...otherwise if you just ask for water, you will get bubbles.

in the grocery stores, you have to look carefully to notice if you are buying bubbled water.

You can do Innsbruck in different kind of traveltypes.
Prepare for much walking to do. The things you need are depending on your traveltype. Knowing you are all travelling people: You know what you need ! Don't forget: In Austria is a lot of rain ! The country i'sn't green from nothing! Everything can be bought in a country like Austria , so if you forget anything, no problem. The sights are beautiful, so bring your best gear ! Prepare for rain ! You know what to do !
