skiing in stubaier-Gletscher

by tintinaa

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to have a day skiing trip in Stubaier-Gletscher in Sept and I saw that there is a ski package on http://www.stubaier-gletscher.com/

Super-Skipackage(EUR 54,00):
One day skiing incl.return bus transfer from Innsbruck, day pass on the Stubai Glacier, on-site rental of winter sports equipment. EUR 54,00

Did anyone try this before? Is it worth to join or is cheaper if I do it myself.

by the way, did anyone have the bus schedule between Innsbruck and Mutterberg? so that I can better arrange my time in Innsbruck.

Thanks in advance!
Tina :D

Hi,

take the "Super-Ski-Package". It is a deal!
(bus only oneway: ~ EUR 7,50)
Bus to Mitterbergalm departs daily at 07:20, 08:30, 09:45 from Innsbrucks Main Railwaystation. The ride takes about 1 hour 20 minutes
See the full schedule at http://tinyurl.com/5v4yyw

Have a nice trip!

Hi Tina!

Send me a private email through my page here and I will connect you up with my friend who runs stuff at Stubai - his family. He'll be able to help!

Good luck and let me know if you'd like to join us - I founded and run a free group of locals and expats (+ guest passing through that want to join in events) here in Innsbruck, Austria. I am an American expat songwriter married to a Tyrolean. Yikes, that's a mouthful! :-)

I grew up being called Tina by the way! :-)
warmest,
Christene

Travel Tips for Innsbruck

Innsbruck Tip

by Babybeary

This place holds one of the sweetest memory for mine travel in Europe. It was a bit comical and cute. :p

We arrived in a hotel that is like country house style. The interior design is so neat and special. Simply love it. :)

That day was very cold and you do know that when it is cold, the warm air that you breathe out will become smoke-like stream. The batch of us were soo.... excited as it is the first time that we experienced this. So we just kept talking and attempted to create as much 'smoke' as possible. We were so excited that we were jumping up and down, trying to create enough heat so that it is not so cold. :p

After a while, we got tired and went back to our room. The weather got colder and we are beginning to shiver. We were so glad when we realised that there is a heater in our room. Ha ha ha... At least we wouldn't freeze to death, we think. :)

We fiddled with the heater and surrounded it waiting patiently for the warm air. After a while, we realised that the heater is not working. Hmmmm.... We went to the person-in-charge for help and you know what's the problem with the heater?????????

There is no problem. The person explained, 'It is now summer and we do not switch on the heater during summer...'

Ha ha ha... we got a shock. For babies like us born near the equator, this kind of temperature was too cold to be considered summer. :p

It was a wonderful experience and yes, we are still safe and healthy today. We survived the cold. :)

Alpenzoo

by Galahad

Visit the 'Alpenzoo' opened in 1962. It is the only zoo in Europe specialising in those animal and creatures that were or are indigenous to the Alps. These are 2 Brown Bear cubs for which there are very few left in Austria.

Basilika Wilten

by bugulma

On the way to Bergiesel you can see two churches, situated opposite each other in Leopoldstrasse. One of them is Basilika Wilten, maybe the most impressive church of Innsbruck in rokoko style. It is a pilgrimage place in XIV century. Present views the church got in 1755 by Franz de Paul Penz architect.

4 Schanzen Tournee

by tessy

In the beginning of the new year the 4 Schanzen Tournee of the skijumpers takes place in Germany (Obersdorf, garmisch) and Austria (Innsbruck, Bischofshofen). I would like to go there and watch that championship!

Being a Super!!

by Cool-123

It depends on the weather. Anyway, you should have warm clothes, water proof jacket, hiking shoes, hat, scarf, gloves, hiking sticks, sunglasses...etc. If it rains, you better have dry socks and clothes with you. Chocolates and water are important for the whole trip.
