Steinplatte had buses going from Kirchdorf hourly, so it was easy to get to and from the slope. The ski lifts moved fairly quickly, even with a crowd, with the possible exception of Saturdays. The slopes were long enough to spend more time skiing then going up lifts. The skill levels were also varied enough for everyone to enjoy. Most of the slopes were sufficiently wide to handle a large number of skiers.
We spent 3 consecutive ski weeks in Kirchdorf and had a great stay at the Alphof every year. The weather varied from very little snow to a ton of snow depending on the year. One year actually took us twice as long to arrive, as we detoured around avalanche covered roads.
The location was great, with easy access to slopes like Kitzbuhl, Steinplatte, and St Johann, with a small learning slope right in Kirchdorf. The town had some good restaurants and every year, we signed up to return the next year...along with everyone else that was staying with us.
This was a great home base for a good ski trip if the skill levels vary among your family.
