Kitzbuhel is not a high altitude ski resort which can be an issue . You end up , most of the time , just skiing the upper third of the mountains.
The mountain side restaurants are superb . There is nothing better that Austrian sausages and Austrian beer .
Johannes Nepomuk Kapelle
Johannes Nepomuk Kapelle, the chapel for Holy Nepomuk dates back to the early 18th century and has a painting by Simon Benedikt Faistenberger at its ceiling. You will find this small chapel on the foot of that small hill with the cemetery and the parish-church. The capel is open for the public and you can enter it during the day.
Streif & Bier!
"Streif & Bier!"
Kitz is one of the queen resort for the alpine skiing, it?s very confortably reachable from Salzburg Airport and is just half an hour from the motorway Innsbruck ? Munich.
Of course the heart of Kitz is Streife, the great slope set in the Alpine Skiing world championship as one of the stiffest slopes.
The Streife is amazing, really technical and iced!
All other slopes are nice, many are very stiff other are for everyone (take in consideration for those expert n? 55 and 75!).
Kitz is also a cosy town, inside its wall there?s the casino, many bars, exceptional and glamour shops. What is unmisseable is apr?s-ski. Once you finished with your daily skiing, why not get some fun with other skiers at Pavillion, just in front of Hahnenkamm Gondola (following the crowd will be helpful for finding it!). From 3.30 till 7.30 almost everyone pass through there with still his/her boots on, leaving the skies outside.
Beers, J?germeister and Nabuccodonosor bottle of Champagne fill in the the guests? throaths!
Music, both dance or rock international and typical German/Austrian song, is spread loud from speakers and everyone dance at it.
Then is dinner time, but many people pass it for going to the Londoners, the hugest and crouded pub in kitz, also here is possible to find a lot of people with boots still dancing till midnight.
If you get bored from staying inside (and the weather allow it), just in front of Londoners there?s a couple of pub with outside service, barrels for holding pints, gluh wein and tequila/vodka shots!, everything to warm the freezing night!
